Big sound. Still hbcu ish but more normal band. Sounded really good I liked there music. They played just the way you are. Our whole band sang along ♥️

Loved the flute soloist. Great music and visual. Those props are also fire. Loved the guard stuff. That low brass trio was 🔥🔥🔥 especially the trombone part (obv bias) 

 

To bad they don't go to our area.

I think we might end up with 5 state spots. We have 4 area advancers at the 6A level right now, with some solid names waiting on ratings/performances - Seven Lakes, Paetow, Katy, JET, Jordan, Mayde Creek, Morton Ranch, and some others. I think we can eke out 6 more advancers among them.

Could run crazy late

 

Chance for no finals (most bands preform better in finals) (sidenote; is a big one) (my thoughts: preliminary rounds tend to be more focused on who makes finals where as finals is about placements. Smaller spectrum effect from. And so on) 

 

Damage to equipment + member sickness 

 

Being on busses for hours in the rain and then having to perform 

 

Lack of spectators 

 

Logistics are a bit harder, where do you keep the kids, how do you feed them. 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday. 

 

Logistics (transport + food) (sidenote: this is really big one) (my comments: this is about the only reason directors push to keep it same day...) 

 

Missing a day of school 

 

Being overly tired the next day. 

 

Getting the weekend to rest (this is a good thing)

Region 27 had 15 bands qualify for Area. Does that mean, along with the 17 from Region 23, there will be 6 spots for State?

2 - Non-Varsity

12 - 6A Varsity. (+15 Region 27 6A schools)

1 - 4A Varsity.

2 - 5A Varsity

So, for Area I 6A there are 27 schools advancing for a total of 5 spots (as of this moment 🤣) if my math is correct.

All the non varsity and non 6a bands don't end up going to our area. Therefore they don't count for our state spots.
