2024 Sound of Springtown Marching Showcase

The Sound of Springtown Marching Showcase will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024.  This contest will feature area-style judging and will have a "Prelims" and "Finals" format.  We will also have a standstill Drumline and standstill Colorguard contest.   The contest will close after 20 entries, but we will keep a waitlist as needed.

Entry fees are $400.00 for the Marching Contest and $75.00 for each standstill contest.  You will receive a $50.00 discount if you choose to have your students participate in both standstill contests for a total fee of $500.00.

I believe my band may be competing in this contest this year. Can someone answer these questions?

1. Do 2A/3A bands compete against the 6A bands. (Like last years 3A Peaster and 6A Weatherford)

2. Do all bands automatically advance to Finals, or do some not advance?

Every band competes together at this contest, and out of the maximum of 20 bands, 10 will advance to finals. However, the outstanding band in each class that does not advance will perform in finals exhibition (usually 2A and 3A bands).

Last year, Canton got 1st and China Spring got 2nd

This will definitely be an interesting contest this year. I see that a lot of newbies turned up this year to shake some things up here. Anyways, here's my top 10:

I'm not a director or affiliated w/ the school in any way, just a concerned mom. But can Winnsboro be moved down to a later time slot, they'll have a 3 hour drive, after an away football game the night before, which is an hour's drive back home. Again, not really my business, I'm just concerned.

Unfortunately, the band director would've had to specify that in the entry form when they signed up for the contest. It also appears that the format for Sound of Springtown goes in order based on classifications, so the latest time would have been only 10:45am.

I agree with this ranking because there are more 5A and 6A bands going to Springtown this year than last, and they tend to be better than bands like Gatesville (which is a class 4A). Overall last year, Alvarado tended to perform better than Gatesville in Prelims (and at Area Finals), China Spring has always been a spectacular band, and Canton got 1st at Springtown last year. My only disagreement with the ranking is the lack of Castleberry and the inclusion of Godley.

8th place isn't bad for a band, 24 bands are going to the contest, and getting 8th out of 24 is still amazing.

I just now realized, I forgot Castleberry. But I do actually think they'll make finals over Godley. Had a great season last year and even made a state run.

It's a good thing they are young!!! I hope they can sleep on the bus! I feel bad for the drivers though. Hopefully they can rest during the day.

Well Venus made Area Finals last year but still didn't make Springtown Finals. Springtown's a contest with a bunch of really good (and big) bands.

Hate they are not coming.  Was looking forward to seeing this year's show from Winnsboro.
