they just added up every single raw score from the judges in finals. it doesn't really apply, every judge is gonna scale things a little differently so that's why the number rank given by each judge determines actual rankings

No, it’s just that the judges that picked wakeland over lone star had much smaller differences than the ones lone star beat wakeland in. For example, in one of the Music captions, Wakeland beat Lone Star, but only by 2/1000. While the visual caption Lone Star won, they beat wakeland by 20 points.

NO, the director of Cedar Park was not judging this contest. The first director of Cedar Park was judgeing the contest, not the current one. The first director of Cedar Park is no longer affiliated with the school or band. I was sitting next to his wife at the Area H contest (and confirmed he was judging are and I watched the current director of Cedar Park Band come into the stands to watch HIS band compete.

liberty really wowed me, they improved so much in the last year - their new director is really doing something right. also memorial was so so clean, i really enjoyed their show.

gutted for LT since its the first time in school history that they didn't made state, but they should be so proud of themselves for a great performance and being so close to argyle, who i thought had a practically perfect run. MCKINNEY NORTH WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LAST TIME I SAW THEM, i honestly enjoyed their show more than lone stars, although lone star was still insanely good. but the loudest band of the day was reedy, the power they brought was genuinely amazing, im excited for them to continue their upward trajectory!

though i enjoyed reedy's show and am so excited to see where they go in the next couple of years, i don't think they were the loudest band today. i was on the 50 yard line for all day and i think wakeland was probably the loudest band there. there were some close seconds but i don't think reedy was one of them

i totally agree. i found it very frustrating to watch because i know those students were probably not happy and as well, i also saw lt parents tearing up for their kids which made me feel for them even more. those kids worked hard and it's extremely heartbreaking and disappointing to see another program cheer for their loss.

I also agree. It's awesome that argyle did not cheer. I've always loved that about them because of the way the band carries themselves. I remember going up against them when I marched and they didn't cheer even whenever they swept area. It's honestly an amazing accomplishment that it only took them 2 years in 5a to make state. That is unheard of. Melissa who moved up with them hasn't even made area finals and anna got almost dead last. I'm not sure how they run their program but they're obviously doing something right. Soon enough they will win 5a and add another championship. Honestly congrats Argyle y'all deserve it. Y'all always were the band I wanted to see at the end of the season because unfortunately my season always came to a close at area.

He still does clinics for them just about every week....

definitely glad to see argyle making state, and huge congratulations to all of the finalists. as a member of the colony high school, idk what happened. we were kinda confused on why we didn't make finals (alongside emerson), seeing the prelims recap helps a little bit but sadly we just cant change the judge outcome . Glad I got to end my marching career on such a cool show though.

This! The gap is getting closer and closer. Congrats to both these programs for continuing to absolutely bring it in this loaded area! To have these schools, which are just 3 miles from each other and split kids from the same feeder programs, finish this close to each other is just insane.

Sad for LT. Loved their show. And I agree this area deserves 5, but what can you do.

It wasn't the directors fault it was the parents also I cheered because I loved the show and they deserved the same applaud as any other band also that's the 3rd time the school has ever been to state and one of those 3 was so long ago

a lot of bands do this. its geniunely so rude to do this and i dont know why people do not see this as being disrespectful. i had talked to some girl at my hs about it and she said: “well we won area so of course we’re going to cheer.” there’s a time and place for everything, and especially not after finding out you wont be returning to state to defend your finals placement. i feel for the kids at lebanon trail, some of the sweetest people ive talked to, and i hope they’re okay.

Totally agree LT was heartbreaking to see after they were named as 5th because those top 5 were all amazing next time maybe they should just wait to party on the bus or when they actually get called

in my humble opinion, its different to cheer because your school got in and cause of you liking the performance. however, they both can be easily be misinterpreted. i do think cheering when you clearly represent another school is rude, aka the mckinney north parents. that stuff can easily ruin a band’s reputation and change the overall view of the band itsself.

my friend in college (who went to lt) went to their area competition after our morning game. i know he’ll likely be upset on monday when i see him, but i do feel for the band.
