So, the big battle is Wakeland vs Lone Star for 1st?

They both looked great last weekend.  Does Wakeland going later in the schedule give them a bit of an edge in scoring?

Reedy was very good too..  I thought Centennial and Emerson was impressive.

I’d say that Wakeland is getting 1st and Lone Star is getting 2nd pretty confidently unless something odd happens. From there though, it feels like basically anything could happen.

Agree with this. Wakeland got 2nd at prosper while lone star got 11th.

3rd-6th at this comp will be interesting, with Lebanon trail, argyle, McKinney north and reedy.

7. Reedy (Unfortunately haven’t been able to see their show so this is just off of how I’ve heard they’re doing and past year results, I can’t see them skyrocketing up to top 4 like some people have been saying even though they placed well at their competitions, but I could always be wrong, excited to see what happens with this band at area.)

8. Emerson (Placed right above the colony at BMI but 12 points below in prelims, unless there’s some serious cleaning and fixing with their consistency, they’ll be stuck in the bottom 5 of finals.

9. Walnut Grove (They’re too new of a school to fly up the ranks that quickly, I’d love to be proved wrong, but I can’t imagine them being above some of the bands that have been at this for 5+ years at least.)

10. Independence (although they missed finals last year I believe they got screwed over by being the first performing band and having to perform in the freezing cold with rain, I think they make it back into the top 10 but don’t fly above some of the bands wit more accomplishments this year.) 

I definitely agree with this prediction, of offense to reedy or other band that are having a great season, but I feel like there are so many reedy kids in this form that skyrocket their band up. Doesn’t mean that they can’t place that high, just think this might be the most accurate.

Reminder that BOA and UIL judging are very very different, and a lot can happen in 2 weeks. I agree Wakeland is having an amazing year and will most likely come out on top, but it could be closer than many are thinking for 1 and 2.

I saw almost all bands at uil here's my predictions:
1. Wakeland
2. Lone Star
3. Argyle/McKinney North
4. Argyle/McKinney North
5. LT/Reedy
6. LT/reedy 
7. The Colony
8. Emerson
9. Memorial/Centen
10. Memorial/Centen

My 7-10 is probably very inaccurate but these are just my predictions. Although I don't personally like North's show design, UIL likes them. Feedback is appreciated.

didn't see walnut grove and independence was my first out. Just didn't think their show was memorable.

1st - Wakeland/Lone Star (both are just soooooo clean)

2nd - Wakeland/Lone Star 

3rd - Lebanon Trail (known to be clean by area)

4th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North (scores will be either really close, or spread out a lot imo)

5th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North

6th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North

7th - Reedy/The Colony/Argyle/McKinney North

8th - Emerson/Walnut Grove (Scores were really close last year)

9th - Emerson/Walnut Grove

10th - Independence/Memorial/Frisco Centennial/Heritage

 

Im trying not to base my rankings off of previous comp scores since they all happened over 2 weeks ago and these comps rarely mimic UIL judging. 👍

Honestly, I'm enjoying the shows from both McKinney North and Reedy this year. I appreciate the risks being taken in both of those shows, and I really enjoy watching them. For Reedy its nice seeing how expressive that show is. Also, for north not really seeing the "redundancy" claim hold up, except for just being another show with jazz charts. Then again, I have always preferred the fun and story-driven types of shows over the more abstractly designed ones.

I think emerson can make state and Friscos show is pretty good and they have been improving and Emerson's show is top tier and is very good

I don't see Emerson that high up.... and argyle should be higher... I have them battling it out for 4th...

Pretty solid list except I think Emerson and Frisco are a bit out of place, I don't see McKinney North up here either and I expect to see them in the top 6. Anything can happen ig.
