Everything just feels so chaotic there has  got to be some better way this could have been handled.

there was definitely a better way for it to be handled.

Also wouldn’t the bands in the first “block” that were unaffected by the rain have an advantage?

JV marcher here, and I feel like while we may have an advantage, the judges obviously know what all is happening and they should score accordingly

Yeah judges should be more kind to bands in the rain. The only issue is they might be to kind or forget some of the earlier performances

It's pretty crazy how close Jordan, langham, Tompkins, Katy, and cy ranches rankings were

Jet total - 33

Jordan total - 43

Tompkin total - 46

Langham total - 46

Katy total - 47

Cy ranch total - 47

Seems like the group who struggled most with the rain were the judges….
They were so vastly not on the same page with each other

Agreed, It sucks how ONE judge can ruin a bands chances at state or finals, when the rest of the judges had them there/or it’s more consistent across the page.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but who would’ve been a finalist between cy ranch and Katy?

I believe it would have been judges’ choice to break the tie.

I could have never predicted any of this to happen. A billion rain delays Langham ties with Tompkins for 8th Ranch does not make finals and woods beats Bridgeland.

I try and stay as positive as I can, but I have a problem when adults decisions make things an absolute dumpster fire like it was for this contest.

Multiple groups having to 'redo' their performances (even though it was BLATANTLY obvious on every weather radar app I could find that there was going to be a lightning delay during the groups performance), groups having to make the ridiculously insane choice of annihilating their equipment (both school owned and students personal instruments) in the rain, groups who had to sit on buses for 4-5 or more hours (looking at you all in that last block), etc.

There HAS to be a better way or access to domes locations for UIL Area Marching contests to be held in a way that keeps students safe, does not force students into terrible performance situations, directors to make horrendously difficult decisions on equipment with the rain, etc.

I feel terrible about this entire contest. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to watch a few good performances, but man did that suck overall having to watch children be forced into not positive performances, and for most of them, finish their seasons that way.

Good luck to the groups going to state and look forward to seeing Area I hopefully represented in State Finals too!

Not to mention some interesting judging, the random thrown in 17th place for Jordan..

Yeah, that was quite interesting considering it was due to a 20th in brass.  And the other one gave them higher numbers. Idk but it almost looks like they wanted to cause chaos with the 4th for Brigeland to....

Area I judging being weird is typical Bridgeland got three 1s but lost bc of two 4s lol.
