Well, it can be argued that certain shows might not be poised to do as well as other shows in a UIL setting, for example, in 2023, Cy-Fairs show was much more of a BOA show than a UIL show, however, they placed ahead of other groups of a similar skill level/caliber who had a show that was poised to do well at UIL at UIL Area that year, the only difference  between Cy-Fair and those other groups is the difference in "performance level", while of similar Caliber Cy-Fair's performance level is above theirs. So essentially, all in all what I am saying is that as far as Langham Creek and Cy-Ranch go, it comes down to who has the best/cleanest performance that day.

Area Marching Contest - Inclement Weather Plan

This just came to my email regarding the rain possibility:
 

Good morning, 

This weekend, we are looking at the possibility of rain during the Area marching band contest. This is the contest that determines which bands advance to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. 

In the event of rain, one of two things will happen: 

1. Finals might be cancelled and prelims scores will be used to advance bands to the State Marching Band Contest.  
2. UIL will use their inclement weather date of Monday, November 4. Please keep this date open as we may need to perform this day to qualify for State. Now…hopefully we do not have to use this option, but it is the backup plan from UIL.  

I wanted to let you know asap so you could plan in the event that UIL chooses t to go this route.

So if finals were to be cancelled, would the top 10 bands still get the Texas shaped plaque for technacilly being the area finalists without having finals? (If that makes sense)

I would imagine so. It would be listed as if prelims were finals results.

My daughter's school will not be using electronics Saturday, most likely, at area. And if the contest is rescheduled, likely none then either. 
 

That is a bit concerning as I would hate to see bands be thrown off not hearing solo cues. I know they have to watch the hands, but anything that is different can influence them. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

we might have some interesting results 

I don't think these judges will start "rushing" these results while their performing because of the rain?

Also yes the top 10 will get the plaque for being finalist.

That how they did it during Covid. During Covid there was no finals only prelims.

If I had to guess, I'd say that they'd either try for Tuesday, or have a one-round contest on another weekday.
I know CFISD has Monday and Tuesday off, not sure about Katy, Spring Branch, and everyone else.

Katy isd has school on November 4 and 5. This may cause a bus problem because there might not be enough drivers taking them to the contest in the early morning. 

waller isd is off on 4th and 5th

and spring branch does have school on 4th but not on 5th

Gonna be some funky rankings going on if prelims are finals results, really hope it doesn’t pour on Saturday. Is there a thing where maybe Cy-Fair can help out with the Katy busses? If the entire district is off then Cy-Fair can for sure help out.

The weather outlook for Saturday at the Berry Center says: "Variable cloudiness with a brief shower or two; humid". No rain currently forecast for the evening. Wind SE at 13 mph and gusts to 24 mph.

Monday: "Times of clouds and sun, windy and humid with a brief shower or two." Wind are S at 17 mph and gusts up to 31 mph. 

Sounds to me, if this remains accurate, that there will be some rain but not a lot or for very long. Saturday will surely happen!
