BlinK Day 41 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Personally i'm more of a Tichelli fan myself. Which do u guys prefer? (This thread is in no way bashing either. I actually love listening to the compositions of both) Quote
mbui Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Definitely, Eric Whitacre. I am constantly connected to his music on an emotional level moreso than Frank Ticheli. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Talk about apples and oranges. I love them both really, but Whitacre just has more emotion attached to it. Quote
ClaireAnnette07 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I can't decide....Ticheli's "Cajun Folk Songs" bring back so many memories from junior high, but yet Whitacre's music--especially October--is B-E-A-Utiful and kind of speaks for itself. I guess if I had to pick, I'd say Whitacre just because his music rocks Quote
TX Suh-nare Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Yeah. Eric just seems to exemplify the emotional side of music better than many of the best composers of all time. Ticheli puts out good qulity music, but the true emotion lies with Whitacre. Quote
I<3thebox Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Tichelli is cool and all, but I think theres no contest. Eric Whitacre's music is just so much more... alive? Its like the difference between... a postcard (aha no pun intended ) of the Great Wall of China, and actually hiking it (from experience I will tell you there's a HUGE difference) Quote
itsstephenyo Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 i like ticheli more. i've said it once on here that i've gotten bored of whitacre and that hasn't changed. granted, i haven't heard any of his more contemporary stuff like his Paradise Lost opera, but i have no desire to listen to it. Quote
