  1. Actually from what im told from people at poteet they have been disqualified for all the events he participated in including Regional's which means poteet will not be able to win the sweepstakes award this year. Which if i am correct will be the first time in school history. The part that troubles me is he wasn't a member of the band and did nothing to help the band besides make sure the sound board doesn't get broke. Thats like taking away a state title or chance to play in the game from a football team or basketball team because there waterboy failed. In all fairness rules are rules and if UIL wants to punish them for it they can doesn't mean it was the right thing to do or we have to like it. So to reply back to your comment if UIL "TOOK TIME" to look at all the facts and use better judgement there "could" have been a better outcome. And when i say took time i mean more then 20 hours that it took uil to say no. They made the appeal Monday afternoon and was told no Tuesday morning. Im not saying 100% they should have let poteet go but for the uil to shoot down the appeal the way they did and not look at what happened is stupid IMO. None the less Gratz to the ones who moved on from C and from everywhere else and good luck at state.
  2. well still should be a good contest but its official now that poteet is disqualified today, there appeal was denied. IMO from what i hear is a stupid reason but rules are rules. If someone who knows the truth or not can confirm this but from what i hear a student that was not part of the band but was just inchrge af helping set up there sound board or something failed before regionals and was not eligible to participate. but somehow show up on there offiicall roster to the uil board and was disqualified. If thats true like i saw rules are rules. but seriously someone that helps out the set up is causing them not to go. Im not saying they would have won but its Poteet for goodness sake. The worst part was UIL let them preform at Area make most believe they will be allowed to move on but then told teusday they will not be allowed to move on to State .
  3. Something tells me that if they could preform at area and seeing as it wasnt an actual Marching Member that they will be allowed to go to state but you never know. Could imagine a state without poteet.
  4. What exactly happen and is it true they are disqualified from State? I know they competed at area and got 2nd but i heard they were disqualified.
  5. I thinks its a good thing to see them back at 4a, just means more good bands to see at state. For those who believe they will screw up the 4A class with judging I dont think so. Will they be one of the top bands, yeah but its going to come down to the judges, Boa bands dont do all that great at uil events. ecept for LD bell and a few others but thats just cuz they are great either way. If cedar park puts out a show where the dance and stand and play more then they march and play expect them not to do that great. But if they do like they did there last year in 4A they can be one of the top. Either way they are a great band and im glad to see more in the 4A class.
