Also to correct you both that doesn't neccessarily mean only 2 will go this year from Area F. In 2009 went to state and was only 13 at Are that year also.(Friendswood, Dawson and Galena Park). The UIL rule is: AAAA/AAAAA Certification. In Conferences AAAA/AAAAA the music area shall certify the two bands receiving the highest ranking in each conference to the State Marching Band Contest. Should fifteen or more bands participate in a single conference at the area contest, one band for each five bands competing in the contest shall be certified for advancement to the state contest. In addition, in all area contests any band that receives a ranking of three or higher from two of the music judges and one of the marching judges will also advance to state.

Based on UIL Forms results from regions 9 & 17 there are now 30 bands for Area F.

Was just looking at the lineup and 15 of the 20 5A bands competing this Saturday have the chance to be back on the same field on October 23 for Area F provided they advance. Hope I get the chance to watch some, although I am scheduled to work at the stadium. Seems like I will be living there the month of October with 3 contests and 3 football games over 4 weekends.

Must be since they had some of the schools in a different class than they were on the tabulation sheets and some in finals that weren't even on a tab sheet. Personally I think The UIL website should keep a record of all state participants rather than just finals. Would be useful information to some people. I think their written records may be just as bad as I understand someone that called and they told them one of the bands on the prelim list you show for 83 only went to state 2 times in history, 1990 and 2009.

Thanks very much I was looking for a complete list everywhere. Still on a quest to find someone with a program that could be scanned. I was there in 83 and lost copies of most all my memories in Hurricane Ike. I found a few old things still safe but not many. Got my Gret Bands of the Orange Bowl patch and a couple from BOA back when dinosaurs still roamed the field.

Does anyone know where I could get the list of Bands that went to state in 1983. Or maybe some person may have kept a momento like a program that could be scanned perhaps? The UIL website only shows the top 5 for each class.

Good luck to all the students in all the participating bands this year. I am hoping that Galena Park will make it to the Finals.
