  1. Thanks for posting these results! I have been refreshing the TMEA Entry List for about 30 minutes now, but nothing has been updated... It is a shame that we came in third, but I have heard only great things from all four bands that competed in Area C!! I am a little disappointed considering the amount of work we put into our program this year, but we have come so far as a band program since I was a freshman (and McKinney Boyd was only 3 years young at the time). I can't wait to see what my alma mater will bring to the table in years to come! Best of luck to the bands that have advanced to the State-Round, and congratulations to those who even fell a little short this time around. Especially in Areas C and D, it is no small feat to come this far!
  2. Things that rock: - Making the 5A All-State Band on the Eb clarinet -Getting a full-ride from the University of Houston (I am officially joining the Cougar family!) -getting other scholarships ($) -my mom inviting me to go with her on a Grand Prize shopping spree courtesy of Neiman Marcus and People StyleWatch! What a wonderful month this has been!!! :D
  3. Things that rock? Conducting the band through a halftime performance at the New York Giants v. Dallas Cowboys game last night! Oh, and also appearing on the jumbo-tron during said performance. What an AMAZING way to end my Senior year's marching season. <3
  4. I was the only 5A Eb clarinet player to audition for Phase 1... I would have liked to have some competition. :/
  5. Thanks, takigan! I wasn't quite sure what the phrase was...
  6. Getting college acceptance letters through the mail! So far: Guns Up! (Texas Tech), Sam Houston State University, Go Coogs! (University of Houston), and Roll Tide (University of Alabama)! Waiting on Baylor and LSU! )
  7. Oh, I digress. We were the HOME team for the aforementioned game. The way we were treated, you would think we were the visitors... I really hope this doesn't happen again.
  8. I remember, vividly, a performance (last year) when our school was the visiting team at a football game versus Rowlett High School. I will NEVER forget some of the fans on the Rowlett home side as we marched onto the track for our performance at half time. They yelled obscenities at us, told us how bad we were and how great the Rowlett Band was in comparison to us, and they even spat on us. I hope and pray that no one else has had to go through that. It was the most disgusting and humiliating thing I have ever experienced in my life. Anyway, I have nothing against the Rowlett Band. If only their fans were as respectful as they were...
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6614490 Great article. I recommend reading it!
  10. That's the spirit!! We have the burning desire and ability to beat the heat!! Let's not repeat history (referring to the crushing defeat in '06 at the hands of the Heat)! Anyone have a favorite player? I like Dirk, but the way Barea has been playing, I have found a new respect for him! He drives through the defense every time!
  11. Witnessed one of the most inspirational games (Mother's Day game)!! I hope they go all the way this year!! :D
  12. We played Eric Whitacre's "Equus" as well for UIL! One of the greatest pieces of music I have ever had the privilege to play!! )
  13. ! Now missing two days of school due to ice! Yay for McKinney ISD!
  14. Know EXACTLY how you feel, my friend. It's a bitter pill to swallow. -__-" Hey, making it to Area is always an accomplishment in itself though!
  15. No school due to the McKinney Independent school district closing (snow day)! AND, all of my exams pushed back a day!
