I'm just starting to watch Pan's Labyrinth for the first time right now. :] -
Okay, thanks, its just really kind of hurtful when people do that. I only heard yall's show once, at the RR vs Gtown game, and never heard the drumline alone, but I know they did sweet. and yes, Danpod, I am a hoss at marimba :] ^is a senior at a highschool/city named after a rock lol

hey dont rub it in our face. we congratulated them. we didnt do it to them last year when we won, bc we're cool about it and respectful, even if we're "rivals". but i guess others can't do the same. ^has a signature i dont understand lol.

2007 Lone Star Classic
urkadrums replied to Mister Mims's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Congrats to Round Rock. Yeah we won last year, but we seriously doubted we would do it again. We didn't expect to get any captions, because we were the smallest 5A drumline there (4 snares, 4 basses, 2 tenors, 4 cyms) But I'm glad we did as well as we did, even with all the complications we had. We played a good show, and exceeded our director's expectations for our rookie heavy line, and I couldn't be happier. -
Our team, Georgetown, was actually okay this year. We've sucked for the last 6 years, and haven't made playoffs in like 8 years or something like that. But this year, we actually had a chance. We beat cp, which was a great victory that helped us a lot, but didn't help us in the end. Last night we played against McNeil, our chance to make playoffs, but there were also other things that had to happen. I'm not sure what they were, but Pflugerville had to beat RR i know, and we had to win our game. Well we won 21-16, but Pflugerville threw the game. Some of our own football players wanted to throw the game themselves because they wanted to start off season early. So no playoffs, and man we were going to miss school on Friday lol. We also had our last home game at Burkelbach stadium, Eagle Field, whatever you call our stadium. It's been there for 50 years, my goodness (and we lost our last game there ever, to Stony Point. That's depressing lol). They have been building our new stadium all year and it'll be ready for soccer season this year. But no more of that tiny stadium. I'm glad I get to play at the new stadium next year; the seniors were disappointed :[.

PIT. is it where the 'un-talented' kids go?
urkadrums replied to Malletguy22's topic in Section Heaven
And if they had only fixed the golf cart to pull the timpani like they said they would last year Kyle, we wouldnt have that problem lol But yeah, pit does do an equal or more amount of work as the rest of the band. Even though we do have a difficult book and we do have to move heavy equipment around, Id much rather be doing that than marching. -
aw thank you :] ahhh okay lol. ^ is from a town that idk where it is lol

has an interesting signature that i dont understand :]

PIT. is it where the 'un-talented' kids go?
urkadrums replied to Malletguy22's topic in Section Heaven
hm actually pit members shouldn't just be standing in one spot. you have to move so you dont hit nodes, and it's hard to not move when you're doing runs up and down the keyboard. and as MaverickBand15 said, the emotion. thats another thing that pit does. those are the members of the band that you actually see their faces. they aren't covered by shakos, and the expressions show the music's emotion they are portraying. it's kind of like acting. and yes, moving the equipment is streneous. im only 5'3'' and don't have a lot of strength, but the strength i do have has been built from chops and moving my marimba. the worst experience i have moving my marimba is at Westlake Marching Fest. there is one large hill to get down to the warm up area, and then a different one that is extremely steep when you get off the field. when you are exhausted from performing a show, and then you have to push a heavy board up a steep hill, its tough. -

I agree with you. I am in the pit at georgetown, and our book is extremely hard. It's written by our pit director, who also wrote the battery parts. Talent is definitely needed to play complicated rhythms, runs with different patterns, four mallet permutations/lateral/double lateral strokes, and a lot more. Our pit also includes body phrasing and actual performance moves. We move up and down as we vary in volume, we jump, float our hands, etc. and we just show with our bodies what we are playing. It is one of my pet peeves when people bash the pit. They say we do nothing, because we don't march and just get to stand there, which is a complete lie. Many people don't even call the pit part of the drumline; they just call the battery drumline. Pit is a percussion section, just as the battery is, and although they are different, they have equal amounts of difficulty. It is definitely not the place where the so called "untalented" kids go. -
Handel's messiah. ( i was stereotypical) I found waldo ! (from the where's waldo books) He was hiding...

No I did not ! Really? (no, thats not my question ) What food(s) do you find absolutely revolting?

Man, i accidentally hit enter when i had only entered one name on my predictions. oh well. We won last year, and we know we are under a lot of pressure to hold our title. There were a few excellent lines that did not compete last year also. It is bound to be a great competition as always. We perform last, that's going to be exciting.

Can Anybody Explain This
urkadrums replied to barisaxy08's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Not to mention how bad of stomachaches the band members got from drinking milk when they were exhausted/dehydrated. Shame shame Borden. -

No, you have it all wrong. The Borden company was there to give all the competing bands some good ol' whole milk after their performance, and their mascot Elsie the cow was there in the lot to take pictures with !
