    Results:

(I don't have the full results, just some of it)

    HS Standstill:

    1. Cedar Park

    2. Brazoswood

    3. Vista Ridge

    Captions:

    Snares- Vista Ridge

    Tenors- Brazoswood

    Basses- Cedar Park

    Front Ensemble- Cedar Park

    Cymbals- Cedar Park

And I'm pretty sure Colleyville won HS marching with Marcus 2nd, and Colleyville got all captions but cymbals which went to Lewisville.

Also, UNT won college marching and the highest overall score trophy (can't remember the name).l

It's called the Fred Sanford Award.

We (Georgetown) won it at PASIC 2006.

Congrats to Cedar Park, we won the marching festival in 2006 and yall didnt go, yall won it this year and we didnt go,

wonder what would happen if we were both there.... :D

Me, and a couple other G-towners are heading down to PASIC Saturday. We'll be in our Georgetown Drumline jackets, so say hey :D

  2. We (Georgetown) placed 19th. We're very proud of that, seeing that it is the highest we have placed at BOA SA, only missing finals by 5 places and getting into the top 20.

Congrats to all the finalists bands. Shows I really enjoyed were Bell's, Marcus', and Haltom's ( LEAPFROG !)

I hope the group of clarinet ( i think) players, the flute player, and the sousaphone player from CP are all alright from their falls in finals. It was sad to see that happen to them.

If anyone saw me, I was I think the ONLY one on crutches in the entire Alamodome. I sprained and strained the ligaments in my right foot the day before prelims in a play performance. Luckily I play in the pit, but I still had to play my marimba ONE FOOTED. So if anyone saw Georgetown perform and saw the marimba player hobbling back and forth on one foot, that was me. :D

I got to ride on a BOA golf cart to the buses with another injured colorguard girl from Aledo, and she was very nice. I wonder if there were any other injured people out there.

Georgetown and Connally. Saw them at BOA Arlington, and both there shows were fantastic.

I did see the video of Georgetown at Area, and I absolutely loved their music. The marching looked slightly difficult as well. Didn't they go on first in Area though? That's always disappointing. The judges have so much time to forget how good you were.

    Thanks :]

Yeah, we went on first at Area, so there was a really hard chance for us to make finals seeing how so many bands went on after us.

But that's alright. We worked really hard this season and we're proud of the improvements we made.

We missed BOA SA finals by 5 places (19th), and that's the highest we've ever placed at that contest (we went on 6th on Friday prelims), and we're very proud of that.

It's alright that State didn't work out for us.

I got grounded for having friends over.

Does that seem retarded to you also?

depends on what the situation was.

what should i be for halloween (even though i have to go to BOA SA that day)?

    omg heck has frozen over.

I remember when it was considered a really good year if they won more games than they lost.

EDIT: You know.....that metaphysical place that's really really hot and sucks to be there. Fl_lCKING puritan language filter.

Yeah, well even though our team is reallyyyyy young (we lost 53 seniors from last year), and a lot of people thought we'd be seventh in district this year,

that's definitely been proved wrong. im really surprised, but happy.

    Games have gone like this:

    SA southwest-WIN

    Seguin-WIN

    Austin Anderson-WIN

    Cedar Park-WIN

    Vista Ridge (homecoming)-WIN

    Stony Point-LOSS

    Westwood-WIN

just Leander, Round Rock, and McNeil to go.

  7. This year on the hills, I twisted my ankle coming back up the hills after finals. I had to ride on the golf cart pulling the timpani cart, as two Alternates pushed my marimba. I felt bad, but my ankle was throbbing, and I was winded.

Westlake High School really should have taken the landscaping problems into account when they built the stadium.

    haha

  8. I'm dreading one thing about tomorrow,

    The WESTLAKE HILLS.

Only the front ensembles know about these, because the band enters the field from a different direction.

It's brutal though. There's one or two hills going down to warm-up area that aren't THAT bad, but they do require a good hold of the instrument. (we've had a rack fall over before).

The way back up after you perform is a different story.

There is one huge STEEEEPPPP hill you have to push your board up, and then after that, you have to go back up the previous hills (uphill, mind you) you traversed down earlier.

I almost die every year, because I'm so tired, and the marimba is so heavy, and the hills are so steep.

Our pit always joke around about these dreaded hills, and scare the freshmen about the terror they have to face :D

  9. They Might Be Giants is an awesome band.

When I was in middle school, the high schoolers at my church would always sing the songs.

"Don't cross the street in the middle, in the middle, in the middle, in the middle, in the middle of the block"

    and

    "Vio-lin-lin-lin, vio-lin-lin-lin, vio-lin-lin-lin, ohhhhhhhhhh"

    were my favorites :D

It's probably based on drumline size rather than band or school size....based on the halftime showcase video Georgetown put up last week, they're marching 5 basses, 4 snares, 1 tenor and......2 cymbals? plus a pretty small pit. Small group, which might explain why they competed in a smaller classification.

    (edit) CONFIRMED:

A Standstill - 11 or less total in the battery, excluding cymbals

AA Standstill - 12 or more total in the battery, excluding cymbals; total membership 29 or less

AAA Standstill - 12 or more total in the battery, excluding cymbals; total membership 30 or more

Georgetown barely won A Class this year with just an 84.....they must really be suffering this year with their staff change.

We have 5 basses, 4 snares, 2 cymbals, and actually 2 tenors, but one tenor is on a playing suspension for a week so he could not play at Plano.

We still have a big pit: 4 marimbas, 4 vibes, 1 xylo, 1 timpani, 1 synth, 2 rack players.

So we had to do class A. We were Division II though, because our total size was more than 21, but less than 29.

Yeah, it's been a hard year. Plus, we don't have after school drumline sectionals on Thursday anymore, but we're working really hard and doing the best we can.

We also won best snare line, and best front ensemble captions for our division so we were relieved about that.

  11. I think it was really good for the bands to get together, and meet and greet.

Not many bands get to do that, and last night was good for both my band and Cedar Park.

I wish I had enjoyed it more, but I was crying the entire football game, seeing Mr. Pape for the first time since he left Georgetown in May (he now teaches at Cedar Park).

The meet and greet for me was being embarrassed for crying in front of people I didn't know well,

and Mr. Pape having to hug me and tell me that it was alright. lol

He was a sort of father figure to me (besides my own) for 6 years, growing up in percussion with him throughout all of middle and high school, and then having him leave my senior year....

It was hard to see him at the game with a different group. Ah, I'm gonna cry again.

But I'm real happy that the bands got together, and I'm sure that now that Pape is over there, we'll be even closer,

and hopefully the friendly competition will stay friendly :].

  12. I'm really into theatre. I'm in theatre 4 this year, and currently in the fall play.

I want to major in theatre studies at UT and work with production, and act with a company.

I'm also in photojournalism, which is a really cool class.

Clubs I'm a part of are Drama Club, NHS, Latin Club, just getting into Young Liberals, and trying to see what other club I want to join.

Our directors are reporting they got an email from the belton people saying this competition is canceled. No other school has told their students this. Has anyone else heard about this?

It is cancelled. Not enough lines signed up. I heard from a friend in Killeen.

We are seeing if we can sign up for Plano Drumline Competition (the same wknd as belton was),

but I just saw on their website that the sign-up deadline date was yesterday :/.

    How depressing.

SA Southwest is actually a decent team. There ranked 6th in the San Antonio area.

Well, I just figured they were easy because our football team is not very good (havent made playoffs in about 10 years).

    lol

    On topic of 2008 shows,

Our school's show is called Fighter Flight, a WWII?/airplane theme, and yes, we have an airplane shaped stage/prop on the field.

I think this is Georgetown's first real prop/stage.

But I think ya'll were quite fortunate to get the opportunity to perform there and get a feel for the dome's trippy acoustics early in the season before performing there again in November. For most schools BOA San Antonio is the first (and usually only) time the band gets to break its freshman in to the "dome experience" (the energy, the acoustics, the feel of the turf etc.)....getting a chance to perform there pre-season is a big advantage.

Speaking of BOA, I just ordered G-Town's BOA DVD from last year (39 bucks, yeesh!). You think anyone important (directors etc.) will throw a fit if I put it on Youtube once it comes in?

Let's hope they wont lol. Or PRETEND they dont, if they do.

I havent even seen our BOA show from last year ! Put it up :D!

  16. We played our first game last night in the ALAMODOME.

Our game was the first high school texas football game of the season, but

luckily we were playing against a pretty easy high school (SA Southwest)

and so we got to have a some pride in winning the first game for high school football.

and now we will lose every other game lol.

but it was crazy to have our first half-time performance be at the alamodome.

    poor freshmen were scared.

Heh.....I remember that class. With Boatright correct? Easiest class in the world. I thrived on signing up for classes where you'd do almost nothing year-round. Took instrumental ensemble every year (an easy class where you could do absolutely nothing if you knew how to escape the directors), maxed out my off-periods, took another 2 or 3 classes where you didn't have to do anything....that was the life :P.

Yep it's Boatright ("Boaty"). I'm excited for taht class.

Yeah, that's pretty much how my schedule is :]
