I firmly believe they need to split this area. There are too many good bands here that deserve to make state and could easily compete at the state level, but won't get the chance because of how close the competition is.

Centennial performed only mvmts 1-4 at UIL because of a not too hot performance of mvmt 5 at the game the night before. Last state year, Centennial didn't put out the full show until State Prelims.... I really do hafta say though with the information about Legacy beating Aledo and Newman Smith that that changes my predictions a LOT! I actually had placed Aledo first in the Area, and while I still think they're capable of hitting that point, I probably will hafta say Newman Smith, Aledo, Legacy and I can't pick the 4th now out of Birdville or Sherman....

Well, while Wakeland is a good band, you do have to consider the fact that the last time around at area they didn't even make finals. Sherman has a strong UIL based program. Yes, Wakeland beat Newman Smith at the BOA contest, but also take into account that the areas that UIL weights heaviest are the areas that Wakeland scored considerably lower than the previously mentioned band. It's just going to be interesting no matter what happens in Area B. There's going to be a lot of drama and upsets there.

Centennial's show this year is called "Splashes of Color" and has musical selections from the movie Fantasia including The Engulfed Cathedral, Arabesque #1, The Hut on Fowl's Legs and (I tend to forget the real name but) In The Hall of the Mountain King or something like that.

So here's Area B in my eyes: You have 5 bands that have made state before: Birdville, Sherman, Aledo, Centennial and The Colony. The runner up from last year: Joshua Three AMAZING ex-5A bands: Timberview, Newman Smith and Legacy And two top 3 finishers in honor band: Southwest and Wakeland. My prediction from what I've seen and how UIL scores is: State = Birdville, Sherman, Aledo and one of the ex-5A groups. I personally favor either Timberview or Newman Smith. Alternates = Wakeland and whatever of the two ex-5A groups doesn't advance to state. And also if you look at it this way, only 4 bands will be making it from Area B, and only 10 bands will be competing in Finals... there's 11 bands that I listed above as potential contenders.

Neptune is my favorite movement. lol, but I doubt there will ever be JUST a wind ensemble version of it. =[

okay, found out Centennial sent 2 to state this year. Trombone and an eflat clarinet. from my understanding the Eflat Clarinet player actually made 1st in state. =]

I'm not sure Centennial's numbers... but I know they had 1 Senior Trombone player make it, and we had at least 2 kids miss it by 1.
