    I’m not sure by raw score but west mesquite placed 4th, lc 2nd.

    LC has stepped up their show this year... and it shows with their results. In the mesquite festival they tied for 3rd place in 5a and 4th overall when they didn't break the top 10 last year, as well as scoring 2nd place for the don Hanna and Royse city contests with some caption awards too. During those contests they've come really close to 1st place (0.5 points at don Hanna, and 2 at Royse city). So they have a really good shot at coming out as area champs!

    If some schools choose to opt out of area the amount of state spots remain the same.

    They did in finals, however lakeview beat them at prelims and also won best visuals for finals.

    If I recall correctly, the original scoring system was having some technical difficulties, so a different scoring system was used. the original scoring system was ordinal points, and results were announced using that system, which lakeview got best 5a band in.
