Harlingen South ROCKS!! Their sound is so clear across the board. Woodwinds match the brass in energy and aggressiveness in the best way possible! Their dance team/color guard is amazing. Their soloist at the beginning is phenomenal. I love their trees and their use of them. The music is fantastic! Congratulations to them on Grand Champions last night! The beat Roma a previous state finalist 👀👀 this is going to be very interesting and exciting! -

They definitely have their work cut out for them. They could catch up possibly by pigskin and become a contender. -

Harlingen was amazing! Their new content and full show sounds fantastic can’t wait for more of them! Hanna sounds good their signature sound peaks through but once they refine it more it’ll really shine! How did Harlingen do it!? They’re a lot smaller than the other 6A bands but their sound rocked the stadium and they we very clean visually i loved it! Predictions anyone? -

Harlingen as Grand Champions! Rooting for them!! Their comeback year??? Weslaco 2nd and LF in 3rd!! Fantastic from our medalists!! Gonna spark some interesting conversations of where our 6A bands stand. Let’s be civil about it and let’s also get some rankings going! Congratulations to everyone! -

Danggg that’s old lol. That was early 2000s late 90s if I’m not mistaken. I think the hype of Harlingen is it’s exciting to see a former powerhouse getting back up on their feet again. Production from them is miles better than last year. I would love to see them really lock in and get clean and hopefully become a contender but we’ll see where they stand on Saturday hopefully that’ll give us an idea of them. The late bloomers won’t be a strong hopefully they put in the work and really tap in using their time. WOW LF keeps getting better and better I have them at 2nd for area depending on United. Let’s get some predictions after tmw gives an idea! -

That’s awesome I didn’t know that! Harlingen is great for their size. They make good sounds and look good. I’m a fan of Harlingen if you can’t tell lol. But they aren’t what they used to be but they seem to be bouncing back. Yeah JBA usually peaks earlier and gets beat by Hanna at state who peaks later. Tomorrow is going to be very entertaining Happy Bandtober! -

In about the next decade or two I think we’ll see a surge in success from Area G. Hopefully soon we’ll get our first 6A state finalist. As far as I know Harlingen was the highest ranked of Area G in 2014 (21st in the state) hopefully soon another band or maybe them again in years to come. Area G is an untapped gold mine of talent recognition will come soon. -

I can’t find of Edinburgh North but that’s an interesting take on United and i don’t necessarily disagree but we’ll have to see more of them and face to JBA to get a better idea. I haven’t seen their show but i was able to see Alexander in person and their sound is great very clear. Great news for United South! Hopefully they’ll do good this season with their new director. 3 spots for state? Hopefully so. I’d also like to say i enjoy having these conversations in the forum it’s really interesting and great how everyone is so passionate about how Area G is doing. -

I hope they go it’ll do more good than anything. It wouldn’t hurt to go imo. They’re progressing slowly but if they do it correctly they’ll be okay. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. -

I just watched the latest run i could find and they aren’t weren’t bad at all. Their first movement was nicer than before visually they’re cleaner and their signature sound comes through sometimes. Lol who’s that tuba player going crazy? Thats all i heard movement one. Other than that their soloist are great and i like their music selection the maria maria part. There was some timing issues in the first movement in the woodwinds (i think thats the tear you’re talking about.) but for the most part i think they’re gonna be okay if they clean clean clean till area. Last year i heard they had finished their closer the week of city of palms which was a week or 2 before area but that was last year. Again its too soon to count them out completely depending how the others do and Hanna’s progression they could pull it off again but it comes to a point. At this point they got their work cut out for them. -

Not a bad list I agree. Weslaco and Edinburgh could switch spots its up in the air really. Both can give LF a good fight. I could possibly see Harlingen medaling if all cylinders are firing. Once they get going it’s hard to stop them lol (look at past years.) I haven’t gotten the opportunity to see Vets but best wishes to them and for Hanna i hope they attend and do well.
