My thoughts in performance order before results released. Braswell: sick show, sounded like a mini drum corps with all of the 2023 dci references, great show from braswell as always! Mckinney Boyd: crazy opener and volume overall, soloists were great and the tuba pedal solo was so fun. tons of great clarity overall Rock Hill: very cool show! brass was powerful and there was some challenging drill that was very well executed! McKinney: Wow!! such an entertaining show to watch!! the trombone ballad soloist tone was beautiful. center marimba in the closer was going OFF on the cymbals XD amazing job Mckinney! Wylie: what a show!!! very entertaining show with some really pristine moments. jazz sax and trumpet soloists in the ballad were beautiful, and WOW!! that closer hit was fantastic! Great job TWB! Wylie East: yall that was genuinely jaw dropping. the ballad gave me head to toe chills, 3rd mvmt beast trombone feature was amazing, and the closer was so powerful. amazing job WE!! Prosper: Amazing show prosper! great clarity all throughout, brass and woodwind power! (also some of the coolest unis ive seen all year) Hebron: I mean come on. it’s hebron. brass was on point, heard some crazy high stuff from the lead trumpet(s) woodwinds in part 4 were on point and the perc break was very cool! amazing show hebron! Marcus: if there’s one word to describe marcus, it would be Excellent. marcus is such a beautiful sounding program, and the timpani solo was so cool XD Flower mound: show of the night hands down. the emotion and cleanliness were so evident. the brass feature was so sick and the “new” closer was so loud and enjoyable. fantastic job flomo!! My personal top 5(based off my opinion) 1. Flomo 2.Hebron 3.Wylie East 4.Wylie 5.Marcus Very eager to see results!!! -

here’s my updated predictions for finals since everyone else is doing theirs XD 1. Wakeland - need i say more? crazy skill and great theme 2. Lone Star - holy brass, this show is so energetic and fun. i could def see them beating wakeland 3. Lebanon Trail - They want revenge after last year, show theme is also very cool 4. Reedy - The growth of this program is insane. watching the crown last year was amazing and i see them doing very well at finals, maybe even passing LT 5. Argyle - show is great once again but competition is so stacked. Reedy Argyle and LT could definitely be fighting for this state spot 6. McKinney North - Very fun show to watch, but some of the visual aspects are lack luster. wish we could see a little more marching from them : / nonetheless a great program and show! 7. Independence - very powerful brass and some great visual clarity 8. Walnut Grove - WG and Indy are such a toss up for me. IMO i think it will just come down to who has a better run. Also i’ve said it before, their lead trumpet is killer 9. Liberty - haven’t seen much of this show but i know they will pull through with a great performance at finals 10. Emerson - sorta same situation as WG/Indy. they could definitely overtake liberty. Great soloists too(and for every band mentioned(: ) as for the runner ups for finals, i think Heritage and Memorial could fight for that last finals spot. they both have great shows. whatever judge gave heritage a 2 at region must’ve been watching a different show. kinda got Bluecoats 2016 vibes from memorials show design XD Good luck to everyone at area next week! -

my predictions so far 1. Lone star; crazy brass right out the gate 2. Wakeland; really fun show design, the creep arrangement/flugel solo were sick 3-7: between Argyle, Reedy, McKinney north, WG, and LT. i havent seen much of argyle besides one early szn vid, their opening was interestin, hopefully it develops throughout the szn. Reedy has been doing very well, their wylie win was huge and the show is sounding really good. McKinney north doing the jazz theme again is expected, but i think they may get penalized seeing as theyve been doing the same theme for 4 years and the area sheets rely more on design now. WG also got a comp win from what i heard. theyve been making some moves this year and have a great chance at placing high. LT is looking and sounding very clean, them and the rest are going to be neck and neck for state 8-9. emerson/independence ; emerson sounded and looked clean from backfield at showcase XD, independence getting 2nd at wylie was huge for them, so they could place higher than emerson or even creep into top 7 10. heritage: show looked really cool, but it could use some more depth in the visual design this year is really neck and neck, 3-8 is gonna be a bloodbath -
