Idk I think SS might win this year. Liberty Hill sorta came out of nowhere esp with it being a brand new school and program, but it was solid!

I’ve been a tad underwhelmed with the first few performances this morning. Idk seems like everyone is trying to preserve energy.

I thought those were random, but that’s the order they are in? So last to play is first overall?

That’s how he does his programs. He teaches sections at a time. They more than likely haven’t learned the final sequence yet or they are just now starting it. It’s an interesting strategy, but basically no one sees the full/final show until regionals.

I’ve been sorta surprised they’ve not been mentioned at all. They have a lot to clean up steps wise, but they sound good.

Who said what? There’s a lot of people talking. I went back through what I quoted and typed trying figure it out, but couldn’t.

Is it the same one like the prelims and finals just blank? Someone above mentioned metrics and those scoresheets don’t really show anything. That’s why I’m asking if maybe there’s something I’m missing.

What I see on the scoresheet is a section of the show they judge with a ranking. Is there more detailed version schools are given that gives them exactly what will get them ranked first? If not then everything is just subject to what ever the judges personally likes to see in shows. What I’m saying is the shows are catering to judges like or have liked in most recent years. I am new to marching band competitions, so I’m trying to make it make sense, but it doesn’t. I came into this expecting it to be like figure skating, you have to hit so many moves and your score goes up and down based on difficulty of moves. I’m not trying to discredit anyone’s placement, I think I’m more confused more than anything.

This is because they’ve been judging the same way for years. Clearly certain bands feed into what they knew the judges will score higher to win not to put on the best show 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was here for both saw a lot of missteps, but I’ve seen them perform a lot, so maybe I notice more 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m curious on why Celina keeps getting ranked so high by everyone even they’ve not ran a clean show all day? Based on watching the judges I think you’re pretty close though.

That’s heartbreaking. They did way better than 17th, but man these bands were all top notch today.

I bet! I’d be way too nervous to perform. I noticed that too. It was rough to watch. I feel for her.

How much does color guard score determine the overall score? Celina has had more drops than I’ve ever seen in a show 😬 I’m here for the last few. Lagrange ended their show in a unique way.

So based on this logic the bands performing first in prelims don’t even stand a chance to make finals?

This, our band was told one judge wouldn’t let us go in the top spots even though other judges felt it was deserved. 4A esp area C is packed with really good bands, so I feel it starts to become more of who you know or who likes you at region and area.

They weren’t the band I was there to support, but I thought they’d make it. Honestly I was shocked by the top 7 other than 1st place! Not how I expected it.

I was shocked they didn’t make it. I had an audible reaction and the whole section gave me looks 🤣

Are they outside and sticking to the schedule for now?
