  1. SA sounds like most other larger cities. I live in Vegas. We too have homeless, aggressive street marketers and many smoking weed which is legal in Nevada. I think it’s best just to use common sense as in any city. Nothing I read would keep me away.
  2. I heard back from the owner of Box5. His comments were borderline condescending. No apologies at all. I had made a comment about some on the HornRank site being upset with their product. He stated that he could care less what a bunch of young people or teens (don’t remember his exact words) on an unmoderated site think about Box5. Guess he doesn’t know it’s not all young people who visit this site and yes it is moderated. He also said that he went to that site and could not find any comments about the issues. Guess he didn’t look long enough. I have disputed part of the season fee paid with Amex. I was willing to let it slide until I received his two emails. I won’t be purchasing next year as BOA has hooked up with Box5 again. I also sent an email to MFA. Crickets to date. I will miss watching the bands but it’s now based on principle.
  3. I congratulated Avon in another post. They did their job. Flower Mound gave the performance of a life time. It just came up a little short in some of the judges opinion. This was by far the most packed finals that I can remember. So much talent on the field. I also posted in several posts that I think GN should be on a four year site rotation. This is not a new subject and others have brought this up before. Nothing to do with sour apples and as I stated before, I don’t have a dog in this fight. I understand MFA’s reasoning that economically it makes sense for their organization to hold GN in one city year after year but I’m not buying that. If the Georgia Athletic High School Association can come to terms with the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta to hold high school football games then surely MFA could. That could be one site on rotation. Add Indy and San Antonio to the list and then finally choose one more site in the west to place GN on a four year rotation. This would allow many other bands closer to home to attend GN due to costs plus IMHO it also levels the playing field and mixes things up. This will not happen. At least not in my lifetime. I really would like to see U.S Bands gain some traction. Competition can be a good thing. Again, congratulations to all the bands that attended GN. It was a great three days of entertainment.
  4. I think that it’s important to give credit to Avon. They won tonight. Congratulations. Where I have an issue is not with the bands. They don’t make the decisions. It’s the judges and more importantly the way that the bands are judged. Something needs to change. Why is the GE score higher than music? Why are bands allowed to park and blow? If the music is so tough that you need to kneel and play then make changes to the music. BOA is known as the good ole boys network. Reminds me of something else.
  5. I remember something like this with Hebron taking 1st place in prelims at the 2023 GN.
  6. Maybe more Texas bands should direct their attention to U.S Bands and not BOA. Look at how many Texas regionals BOA schedules each year.
  7. Really? Can’t they just announce the winners? Talk about drama? LMAO…..
  8. Went there “once” for GN. No thank you. Think about GN rotating to the Southeast, mid west and Southwest. What a difference that would make in participation and finals. There are certain bands that have the “home” field advantage. Not trying to be negative but this is the reality.
  9. Yes, I get it. A number of reasons why GN will not move away from Indy. Personally if I hear another “If you know you know” I will scream. Indy is one of the last places on earth I would visit if not for GN.
  10. I posted this in another thread but I would love to see GN move to different venues on a rotating basis. We would see different outcomes.
  11. Flower Mound showed me why they should take the Eagle. Not boring at all.
  12. Very nice job DS and congratulations on an outstanding season. Well deserved.
  13. Was I the only one that felt like FM held back a little in their first two performances at GN? I say open up the sound a bit in the finals. Maybe it was just the stream and bad sound.
  14. I think the scores are very close. Finals should be insane and I'm not a superstitious person so 🤮 on the 9th spot. 🙂 It’s going to be a great night of bands.
  15. Not buying this statement from BOA. There was basically zero issues until many logged in to watch the results and then the stream crashed. Box5 has had issues all year.
  16. I don’t have a dog in this fight as I just enjoy watching bands perform but your comment is ridiculous. Go over to the HornRank boards. It’s full of Hoosiers who look down on other bands if they’re not from Indiana. Case in point….One poster today made the comment that they were going to win it all anyway. We should all be celebrating the hard work that all of these students have put in this year and not trying to tear them down.
  17. Some really great performances this morning. Dripping Springs was great. I would love to see them two more times.
  18. And let’s face it. The goal today was to make semis. One step at a time. Got to save something for two more possible performances.
  19. Personally, I don’t get all of the Avon love. A very nice performance but IMHO it’s just not exciting. The kids performed the heck out of the show but it just doesn’t bring the excitement that FM did. Just my two cents.
  20. Good guess. I just find it totally disrespectful to sit there and make stupid comments when more than half the bands have not performed but I’m not surprised.
  21. Well over on HornRank some have already anointed the winner of GN so I guess we can just cancel the remaining bands to play.
  22. I know that it won’t happen for a variety of reasons but I would love to see GN move around to different venues on a rotating basis to mix up the participation. For example maybe the southeast one year, Indy the next and then San Antonio. I can’t see a far west city hosting due to distance/lower participation but at least mix it up a little. Again, it won’t happen but one can dream. 🙂
  23. Don’t know the rules myself but I read that over eight minutes once the clock starts means disqualification.
  24. Finals gonna be tough. Glad that I’m not a judge. So many talented groups not making the cut.
