I know some people think that Lone Star could possibly beat Wakeland but I honestly just couldn't see it. I LOVE their show but maybe not this year, but I could definitely see it being a possibility in the near future. North has had quite the fall off compared to last year, even getting 20th at BOA Prosper was quite surprising to me, and I know that they had a worse than usual run, but I've noticed their show is overall not as clean as years past. I could definitely see them continuing to go down hill after their director change last year and could see it to continue even more with the possibility of them moving up to 6A. This competition is really starting to get stacked from top to bottom this year as these bands are continuing to get better and better, especially Lone Star and LT. I can't wait to see how it will turn out! All that said here are my predictions: 1. Wakeland 2. Lone Star 3. LT 4. Argyle/Reedy 5. Reedy/Argyle 6. Walnut Grove 7. Liberty 8. McKinney North 9. Independence 10. Emerson

I'm so excited for this 6A Area J this week! I can't wait to see how things are going to turn out especially with the possible toss up between Prosper, McKinney, Wylie, and Braswell. I think it will be interesting to see how these four turn out, especially when considering how their scores compared at BOA Prosper without any GE points. I can tell that all of these bands are hungry for that 4th State spot. I also think it will be interesting to see how the top 3 stack up against each other, and who will be turning out on top. I think it will be interesting to see how all the different bands are going to compare against each other going into this new season, especially with the addition of so many new bands compared to last year, such as Hebron, Braswell, McKinney North, and Lakeview Centennial. I also think it will be interesting to see how the bands will fare with the UIL style judging panel and how that will fare with their shows and possibly effect the results as some bands such as Braswell are known to have more production oriented shows. I'm also excited to see so many great bands early on in the season and see how they will develop as the season progresses, and to see how some smaller bands such as Lonestar or McKinney North might be able to better clean their show early on in the season, and how that might favor them with the UIL style judging panel. Although the it may be obvious to most who will win, I think that 2-8 could be a complete toss up and depend lots on the performance of the different ensembles and could even change drastically from prelims to finals. I have heard there is a bad weather forecast for Saturday and I think it will be interesting to see how that plays out and how it effects different bands and their performances but, here are my predictions for the Area J marching competition on Saturday so far: 1. I agree with you, I saw a video of McKinney this year they are sounding much better than they have in the past, especially the brass. I also think it will be especially interesting to see the results of the different caption awards and if Lonestar will sweep or if different bands will win different captions and how it will compare to the overall results.
