I totally agree I mean these bands who are getting like 12th at state would probably be at least top 5 10-15 years ago. I mean my god I feel like I'm listening to like Carolina Crown sometimes.

I would finally love to see a BOA San Antonio winner finally face off against vs Carmel and avon at grand nats too. I think the last time the BOA San antonio winner attended at Grand nats was 2013 (Woodlands). They ended up winning nats, hmm?? 🤔 I wish we could see the very best band from Texas vs Avon, carmel, and BA every year!

On top of that If you watch shows today compared to 10 years ago, In my opinion today is just way better. A 12th place finish at BOA SA in 2014 would be a 35th place show today. And i think the shows have gotten way more creative and visually stimulating. Just my opinion. I'm ok If you disagree.

I do believe Vandy does gear their shows to UIL for the last couple years. And I think Hebron for the first time this year. However, I still think there were some incredibly fun shows this year. Yes maybe it wasn't penstriped or anything but woodlands had one of my favorites shows from them in a while and flomo also was brilliant. Vista Ridge was absolutely beautiful! So I understand how people feel Hebron and vandy's shows weren't super exciting, but there were also a lot of bottom half bands and bubble bands that were crazy creative and fun.

avon and Carmel would not win lmao

not a state fact but boa san antonio Ronald Reagan is the only band to be in finals at every BOA San Antonio this century (the last time they weren't was in 1999). They are also the only band to make finals at every BOA San Antonio since it became a super regional. (It became a super regional in 2003).

possible finalists 2025 - Avon, Carmel, Broken Arrow, Blue springs, William Mason, Flower Mound, Woodlands, Marcus, Round Rock, Bentonville, Dobyns- Bennett, Vandegrift, Vista Ridge, Ronald Reagan, Pearland, Brownsburg. (that's assuming that Vandy, Vista, Reagan, and Pearland go). This could finally be a grand nats that might match the competition level of BOA San Antonio

pretty sure Broken arrow, blue springs, and bentonville are going to, ofc Avon, Carmel, and Williamson will attend too.

Woodlands, Marcus, flower mound, round rock, CTJ are all tx bands locks for 25 grand nats. Possible that Vista, Reagan, and vandy all go as well.

I think we were still aiming to win every comp we went to, but we knew deep down we weren't good enough to beat broken arrow, vandy, Hebron, etc. However, despite not winning I'm very grateful for being finalists at state, San Antonio, and nats. I think hundreds of bands can only dream of accomplishing that and all bands who make finals are in the top .01% in the country!

I went to Round Rock high school and was in band all 4 years. The expectation for our band was to make finals at all comps (BOA Austin, TMC, Westlake Marching fest., BOA San Antonio, State, BOA Grand nats). We always went it to a comp aiming for first, however we all knew that at comps like state, Nats, and San Antonio we weren't going to win. Our real goal was to get as high in finals as possible. getting 7th, 8th, 9th at state was our "1st place". Beating bands like CR, Pearland, CP, Coppell, Leander was extremely important to us. So while yes we knew deep down that we weren't going to win state, that doesn't mean that it wasn't worth going. Because just making finals is already a "1st place win" for all finalist.

Also there is a chance of rain and lightning throughout the day, they will continue to delay the contest if needed. However if they calculate after prelims that they will not able to fit all the finalist bands in by midnight, they will treat prelim results as finals results. Hope that doesn't happen because results could be a lot different.

This contest is gonna be ridiculously close for the last 2 spots to make state. I've worked up close with 3 of these bands over the last 3 weeks and these are my predictions: 1. Ronald Reagan 2. Round Rock 3. Cedar Ridge 4. Bowie 5. McNeil 6. Dripping Springs 7. CTJ 8. Westwood 9. Churchill 10. M&G Johnson

As someone who has worked closely with a lot of the bands in central Texas I think Vandy and Reagan will take the top 2 easily. Also think RR will for sure will make top half despite a lackluster performance at BOA Austin, they always have a super slow start to the season. Vista has a great chance of beating Rouse at this one. And I will be interested to see what Dripping Springs will get here as they are very impressive this year, I would not surprised if they get top 5. MY PREDICTIONS: 1st: Vandy 2nd: Reagan 3rd: Vista Ridge 4th: Rouse 5th Round Rock 6th: Dripping Springs 7th: Leander 8th: McNeil 9th: Westwood 10th: Bowie 11th: Cy woods 12: MDG Despite Vandy show being way harder this year they will most likely sweep captions. Dripping springs has great chance to get higher than what I placed them. Round Rock will have a very huge bounce back and Vista Ridge will move past Rouse. Leander could also have an impressive finish. I think the biggest story line is how DS will fare against A LOTTT harder comp then in San Marcos. My predictions are completely off of what I've seen inside a lot of these bands and in the end it's what the judges think. I hope everyone does well tommorow and that TMC finals are great!!!
