  1. Churchill had multiple changes, Mr. Johnson just being one of them. (He's great, by the way...) Mr. Alan Sharps was chosen as Director of Bands at Lady Bird Johnson (the new school split off of Reagan). I watched his band perform at halftime of the recent football game we played against them. He's going to make a splash with that band, and soon. 1 senior and 16 juniors in a ~150 person 1st year band and they already looked pretty good. I got to talk to him for a while during the game as well. He's up to his earlobes in work (all the little things established programs take for granted he's having to build from the ground up)...but he's having a good time doing it. Everyone here is really happy for him. Another new hire...Mr. Tony Ruiz had been the marching tech for a couple of years while still at Texas State...now he's graduated and was hired as an assistant director.
  2. The reason it went wrong is because it wasn't used. They immediately went to the "counting 1s" phase. Their explanation after the fact was that "counting 1s" and the published 3-way procedures always yielded the same answers in the past...well, last year they didn't.
  3. I knew the first part. Like I said, my kids go/went to Churchill...I got a graduate degree in 3-way ties last year. So after the 3-way failed, they went back to counting 1s?
  4. have a question... I was looking at the Area G 4A results http://www.uilforms.com/regions/14/AreaMar...A%20Results.pdf Could someone explain just how the 4th place tie was broken? And by the way...my kids do/did go to Churchill, so I am intimately familiar with 3-way ties! But this one is a nightmare beyond belief!
  5. Great job to all the bands. Oh by the way...UIL has issued a ruling. http://www.uil.utexas.edu/music/CHS-DHStie-breaker.html
  6. Butting in here briefly... Just thought you would like to know...UIL has posted a ruling. You can find it here... http://www.uil.utexas.edu/music/CHS-DHStie-breaker.html (Did not copy due to length of ruling).
