I'd argue judges focusing on pit is what helped CR placed so high. Their pit book is no joke and those kids play it well. Plus, CR took 1st in perc in 2022. Their percussion is consistently shown to be very talented.

Trust me I know what cedar ridge Perc is like, Rick rod knows exactly how but when I was talking about front ensemble I meant by prelims, I thought finals did a good job but there is just really no way to tell exactly what was the reason they were in second unless we see separate front and battery tapes, just my opinion though, cedar ridge is indeed very good at percussion. On the topic of percussion 2 percussion programs I would’ve liked to see and hope to see in the future are Westwood and McNeil. Both did very well in percussion at tmc and both are taught by directors who are currently teaching both wgi at rhythmic force and dci at blue stars and blue knights so lots of great stuff as far as percussion

Glad the percussion scores are better in finals after being a little wacky in prelims imo

I agree, cedar ridge 2nd might be a little bit too far but other then that and Hebron I like where everybody is at, one thing I would like to see in the future is a front ensemble be battery score because there are some judges which just look at battery and that’s not really a percussion score

I thought their ge was good, I’m sure a little more percussion would have helped. Can you explain how timing would have effected them?

    Expand

Yeah that’s exactly why, if ge is good then they would obviously place higher at a boa competition, in all honesty at state what time you go doesn’t really effect you that much, that’s more of a boa super regional thing

Even if it's superior, which it is, it would still be a nice change of pace to have Grand Nats in San Antonio once every few years. Would be a great display of the depth Texas has. Exactly 4 non-Texas bands would sniff the top 14.

It’s a good idea but it would just turn into boa San Antonio 2.0 but I would like to see something that would allow Texas bands to come a little easier so we can really compare all Texas bands

Coming from the previous years only reagan is a lock, you have to think back to the years prior where Boa competitions mean basically nothing, Dripping springs lost to cedar ridge by 7 places at Austin last year and beat the at area, it really just comes down to who wants it more in these next 2 weeks, good luck to everybody, may the best bands win. Bummer that we are not going to see some bands at Uil SMBC who had a shot at making finals, it is probably harder to make state in this area then it is to make finals at state, are we gonna see all 5 bands from this area in finals??? That would be so cool

Also i was looking at last year to back this up, 2 bands from area d made finals, the next 3 out(places 15,16,17) were all from Area D, proving that these bands are all insanely good
