10 make finals, and 5 go to state

Wrong Fossil Ridge, there's another one at Fossil Ridge in Colorado that's different from ours in Area F

My rankings after this weekend of competitions! 1 - 3: Aledo, Midlothian, Cen10 I honestly don't even know whose gonna come out as this area's champ anymore, Midlothian was only 1 point behind Aledo in finals, and took music in prelims at Waco. I wouldn't count Cen10 out in the race for 1st as well, they've looked strong all season long as well. And Aledo is of course doing Aledo things, but I don't see them getting 1st all around. 4 - 7: Grapevine, Richland, Birdville, Colleyville Heritage I'm really on the fence for who will that the last two state spots. I think that CH is back in contention for a state spot, though its hard to tell with their results from St. Louis. Grapevine has looked super consistent this whole season, and Birdville has looked good this week too. Even if they haven't competed this weekend, I'm sure that Richland has been improving as well. 8 - 10: Azle, Chisholm Trail, Fossil Ridge, Saginaw, Brewer, Joshua, Creekview, Granbury, Cleburne Again, the finalist pool could literally be any one of these groups. Just comes to show how competitive and talented of an area this is.

I think the finalist bubble is gonna be around Hutto, and Midlothian, and maybe Lake Ridge, Chisholm Trail, Boswell, or Grapevine with a good run?

True, just saying that as last year 29 of the 31 bands qualified for area, which leaves possibilities for the last 2 to make it.

Does it seem unlikely that maybe 30 bands could qualify? That would make this a 12 finals and 6 to state area.

Here's my top 10 right now, 1. Aledo (definite powerhouse of the area) 2. Cen10 (8th Place at Prosper beating out groups like McKinney and Braswell as well as being right behind LT could put them in a spot to win the area) 3. Midlothian (A convincing win in Midland should definitely put them top 3. I also think that Bari Sax solo is amazing! Such a fun show) 4. Richland (From their exhibition they've improved from last week, should be a state qualifier) 5. Grapevine (A 7th in prelims and finals at Birdville ahead of Duncanville should put them in top 5 contention) 6. Birdville (I'm not totally convinced they are better than Grapevine right now from their exhibition) 7. Chisholm Trail (A finals placement at Birdville should secure them finals here) 8. Azle (Might just be my perception because they didn't have a contest this weekend but I think from what I've seen CT is a little ahead of them) 9-10. Brewer, Colleyville Heritage, Saginaw, Fossil Ridge, Cleburne, Joshua, Creekview, Granbury (Literally could any one of these groups, the race for finals seems so tight this year)

So will Birdville Invitatonal… Summit, Grapevine, Timberview, Colleyville and Chisholm Trail will all make appearances there!

I do think that Byron Nelson will take percussion, as it has been strong for several years. However I also agree that Keller will take the rest of the captions.

Birdville beat Richland at Don Hanna, so I don't understand your logic for them not making area at all. It might have been the wonky judging at DH that put them ahead, but I don't think that Birdville won't be making area finals. Here would be my current rankings: 1. Aledo 2.Cen10 3. Midlo 4. Richland 5. Grapevine 6. Birdville 7. Azle 8. Colleyville Heritage 9. Saginaw 10. Brewer/Chisholm Trail/Fossil Ridge/Granbury

The fight for the fourth and fifth state spots looks really tough. Richland, Midlothian, Grapevine, Birdville, and Azle all seem to have a fair shot at it with a good finals run!

We’ll see how many go to state after Region 5 on Tuesday, but it’s looking like 5 at the moment.
