  1. I think this is pretty accurate except I can’t see DS getting beat musicly or visually by Richland. After watching them live they have such musicality, especially when playing October, and produce such powerful rich sounds. Nor could I see Waxahachie losing visually to Richland.
  2. I don’t know for sure the average size though I would say it is somewhere around 100-130 members not including pit, guard, or drum majors.
  3. Preach! That rant was hilarious! If they can't provide concessions then why would anyone go to the contest?
  4. Maybe? The area scores were pretty solid and they have an excellent program. It is honestly down to the judges that day, though I can see some other bands pushing them out of finals.
  5. Sorry if you found it to be a bit much. That was my honest first reaction and my filter could have been stronger there, but I hope you took a look at the rest of the post and responses.
  6. Its hard to believe I know. Only if Frisco-Centennial could perform Empire every year
  7. I know this is not the right page for this but I have to say I really think CP, DS, Waxahachie, Richland, or maybe even Roma could walk away with a state title on the 8th. Who really knows? Such an exciting and crazy contest!
  8. I totally agree. No one likes change and a shake in the system. If any of the top tier finalists were to upset CP ( I predict it will happen) it would be crazy. Though I do hope the staff and students over there can get back on track because I love watching their amazing shows.
  9. I can't agree more. After watching their performance from the first week of football games I was disgusted with the amount of stickouts, sloppy visuals, bent legs, etc from a program the caliber of theirs. With it now almost being November some of this has improved but "The Cedar Park Swag" just isn't there. The sparkle and shimmer to everything that they have had in the years past which gives such a WOW factor doesn't exist this year. The awe and wonder I experienced when I saw CP in 14, 15, 16 and still experience when I watch those shows over just is not there. When I stood beside them while warming up for halftime I noticed they had a ton of younger members and few upperclassmen. The techs were on to them all of the time and Mr. Vandoren did not seem satisfied. In addition, their band was smaller than I remember it being. I feel fairly certain they would not even make GN finals this year with the product they have now. I don't want to say CP is on a downhill slide, but it is definitely an off year.
  10. So proud of all of the finalists in area D! They really played their hearts out and I’m so excited to advance to state! It has been 17 years since Georgetown has made it to the state marching contest and it feels good to be returning again. I’m so proud of everyone in my band program for making it happen when it counted.
  11. It’s hard to believe too. Dripping spring came out there on fire and cedar park had a small tear in the latter part of their show but still. I’m very surprised.
  12. Unfortunately, we have to “run over the scores with a tractor” because finals is a totally different beast.
  13. I think the scores are confidential but I don’t know for sure. I’m in the Georgetown band and we got third overall with Dripping Springs first and Cedar Park second for prelims.
  14. The weather will definitely be a factor considering we had one of our worst performances tonight due to 40-degree weather and strong wind. I believe it is going to be a who can suck less and fight through the adversity situation.
  15. Sorry if I came off a bit intense! From what I can tell I like most people on this forum are very passionate about band. And yes, I talk to my director about the state program all of the time. I decided to check txbands out because I wanted to hear some outside opinions. I would love to hear what anyone has to say.
  16. I can't believe no one has Georgetown advancing to state. As a member, I am biased toward them. However, we just came off a third place finish at the Vista Ridge Marching Festival and got 4th at the Texas Marching Classic. I'm not saying we are going to set the world on fire and edge out an amazing group like Cedar Park, but I do feel like we deserve to be in the discussion.
