I know a few people already touched on this, but I am so upset with J5. I’m not a huge fan of Round Rock (go CR!!) but wow. They were Round Robbed tonight.

Way to go Summit! Mansfield wasn't a big shocker to me, as they are always really good at UIL, but I really had my guard down for Summit in this stacked field. Great job to all who competed and to all who made finals. Good luck tonight!

Did anyone catch Lake Ridge, Summit, or Mansfield? It'd be cool (but very difficult) to see an MISD band crack finals in an area this deep.

BOA and UIL are judged differently. I would not be so quick to dismiss Duncanville and Coppell. They have historically done better at UIL than BOA. In 2016 if I remember correctly, during prelims, both bands beat Keller. Anything can happen yes of course- especially with the addition of 5A bands to the mix. But these are solid UIL bands and they will have solid performances.

When was the last time that either Duncanville or Coppell didn't advance to the state contest?  It could happen this year!

IMO, there's only one, true "lock"....Keller.  Everything else is up in the air...I thought Coppell was close to a lock but they didn't make finals at BOA DFW.  That was a really deep contest so I have no idea what to make of that.

We saw Waxahachie a couple of weeks ago at a football game. Their opener is amazing.

Lake Ridge is an extremely clean band, both visually and musically. I don't know how much their show will progress in the time from now to Area, but it was enjoyable to watch!
