So.. here I am sitting thirty minutes North of Houston. I don't have school and I most certainly do not have band practice. Unfortunately, our band program is already close enough to having to march only our opener and ballad for our first contest, BOA Houston Regionals. This contest is only twelve practices away for us. So, pretty much.. We're screwed. So, my question is.. Hows the hurricane effecting your band.

Their plumes are a bit longer and they no longer have the chains on their hats. Everything else pretty much didn't change. I went and watched one of their practices.. if they can keep the contras at a good angle they'll do great with them.

DCI is based off of loud brass sounds and skilled drumming. A Drum Corps should be able to realize that it won't be able to give of the same "light" effect a Marching Band with woodwinds would be able to accomplish. They should be able to work around that in favor of the effect we all want from a Drum Corps: loud, in-your-face brass sounds. Woodwinds should be left to Marching Band. Drum Corps are unique in that they are based of traditional style military bands, throwing in Woodwinds would spoil that. Plus, if you added woodwinds to a Drum Corps, doesn't that just turn it into a Marching Band? There'd be no difference. As a woodwind player, I just enjoy being able to appreciate the hard work they put in to accomplish what they do.

Haha, well.. my "significant other" already knows my reasons for not liking Seqeunza.. he got over my opinion of it. I didn't think it was original for them after Numbers.. Both had voice overs, both drills formed numbers on the field, both had big number themed props... But it's just my opinion.

Haha, my shows theme was already posted.. on my birthday no less. But, my boyfriends in The Woodlands Band, if I didn't think he'd shoot me for sharing their theme, I would. I will tell you that I'm kind of iffy about it. It's something I'm going to need to see before I decide if I like it or not. Oh well, they can't do much worse then Sequenza, in my opinion.
