  1. what is wrong w/ ppl's contest ediquette? i had like 5 ppl come up to me after area finals and ask me how it felt to know that our best wasn't good enough. how rude is that? and they were all from the same band. and then some lady in the stands by my mom had something to say about everyone. why do ppl have to be so rude at contest? it's not everyone... but it shouldn't be anyone.
  2. The singer is one of their drum majors... For her protection I'm not going to name who... The singing has gotten alot better than the first time I saw the show. And they got rid of most of their synthesized stuff... thank gawd. crappy quality vid... but i love the show.
  3. I don't know that I can really explain them... Other than our show is titled "Fusion" and if you look up a diagram of fusion... that's kinda what they look like. They're like exercise balls... and they're blue. I've gotten yelled at more than once for laughing at our guard girls for having giant blue balls. I'm not exactly sure what they're for, though... I guess it's a guard thing.
  4. We usally have a one hour practice/run-through before each contest. Practice typically sonsists of 10 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of fundamentals, 20 minutes of last-minute cleaning and then a full run. Brian Trumpet The Woodlands College Park High School Band
  5. You know what... you're right. She probably doesn't, but she does hold very highly the opinions of her own students. I don't see what's wrong with asking what other people think? Would you have a problem if I was from Reagan and I asked what you thought of College Park? Probably not. So what's the big deal in me wanting to know what other people think? And I'm not "fishing for compliments". Your reply could have been "you guys suck," I just wanted honest feedback and I really don't see a problem with it.
  6. First off... I wasn't trying to start anything. I just wanted an honest opinion on our program. I don't see the problem with that. We won't know what to fix in our show if we don't know what areas need improvement. We haven't been around long enough for people to talk about us unless we ask. Sorry if I offended anyone. Second - yes, there is a website. It's not the greatest thing in the world, but it keeps us informed. www.twcpband.com Brian Trumpet The Woodlands College Park High School Band
  7. Okay... I'm a junior in The Woodlands College Park High School band. Alot of people within our program are wondering what everybody else thinks of us, since we are only a 2-year-old program. Did any of you see us at BOA Houston (Pearland) or Lone Star? It'd be really awesome to know what you think. Brian Trumpet The Woodlands College Park High School Band
  8. Division I rating with a score of 81.50 and the Visual Caption. 5th place overall during prelims.
  9. Are you kidding me? The Woodlands was changing their drill the day before Grand Nationals in 2004. We were practicing at either Ben Davis or Carmel.... don't really remember which one, and they started changing stuff up.
  10. i've never seen one get hit... but i would love to be the one to do it!!! directors are always saying "the judges know what they're doing... they'll move. and if they don't, just keep going."
  11. Well, our head director was also my junior high director... Good thing I get a long with her because she has been/is gonna be my director for a really long time. She's a brilliant music educator and she has a very loud personality. Talk about perfectionist... but I suppose in the music world, that's a good thing - perhaps that's why her bands always thrive. Our 2nd band director is also our marching tech. He's well, he marched Cavies if that says anything. He too, is a perfectionist. In comparison to other directors, he's fairly new at this... but he's not doing a bad job. He's another one of those directors where it can sometimes be hard to tell the difference between sarcasm and seriousness. Our percussion director - well, I don't know enough about him to say anything... I'm not in percussion.
  12. Yes they did. And I totally wasn't suprised when our drum majors didn't get it.
  13. i totally understand the whole double performance thing... at nationals my freshman year we were one of the last ones at semi-finals and we were the first ones at finals... it sucks. going first is always terrible, but especially when you just went....
  14. 8 per 5? that's new i've never heard that. it's always been 8 to 5. anyone else got another name for it?
