  1. World Gone Mad, the only Rock Drum and Bugle Corps, has immediate openings for snare and tenor drummers. WGM is a year-round gig corps that doesn't compete, doesn't march and generally tries to avoid the outdoors whenever possible. In Texas, this is a *good* thing. Need more? Okay, we don't require dues - ever, we don't play anything that's been done by a concert band, symphony, or wind ensemble, and we make sure we don't conflict with your other school gigs. We play because we like to perform in front of folks, and we like to perform well. We are looking for drummers WITH THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION - we can't provide any. Band or corps experience is most helpful, but not 100% necessary - we will teach any kind of drummer how to achieve rudimental greatness. If you're interested and want to check us out, we're on the web at http://www.worldgonemad.net/ Drop us a line and we can provide rehearsal directions, further details, bail money, et cetera. <not really on that last one> Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! 2. If I recall correctly through the haze of history, Crockett's championship shows in the early 80's were Paula Crider's creations. (She later went on to become the director at Univ. / Texas.) I *think* those were her arrangements, but I wouldn't swear to it. Mike (Johnston HS (Austin, TX) 1989-90 to 1992-1993)
  3. I will happily donate my time, money and resources to a Texas-based Crossmen. Mike
  4. It's been neat to see, just to see what the other bands around town are doing these days. Honestly, we don't get to see *that* much of each other during the season. Mike Johnston HS
  5. BMG was the company that won the bid for my district a few years ago. In my two semesters of trying to deal with them, I'd found it incredibly difficult to get parts / repairs done to old equipment, and their prices on new stuff were much higher than Lone Star Percussion, Columbus Percussion, Steve Weiss Music, or any other company I checked. Mike
  6. I can provide the other end of the big drumline spectrum - my kids so far are 1 snare, 1 tenor and 1 bass. (Or no snares / two tenors / 1 bass - I haven't decided yet.) And that's from a 4A school. In our defense, we're starting a band program up again after the previous one crashed and burned in the last couple of years - they went from 130 in the band in 2003 to 7 in the band in '05. Hopefully, we'll get at least a couple of freshmen that I didn't know about, and we can field 2-1-2 or something similar. Mike Drumline Director AS Johnston HS Austin TX
