  1. No way! In fact, I take it as a compliment. We should all take pride in the fact that we are part of an activity that we love so dearly.
  2. This would be how a typical conversation would go: Hey Band! - Hey what? This is (insert name here)! - Hi ____ They're a (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) - cheers from that class They play (insert instrument) - various cheers from that section The last question varies, but we've had favorite cereal, pokemon, dinosaur, candy, and other random things that I can't remember. Although, we do get some humorous responses. For example, whenever the person says they play flute, the trumpet section responds by shouting "I'M SORRY!"

  5. I believe their show is titled "Minimally Speaking" with music by Richard Saucedo
  6. Overall, the showcase was a great success! We raised about $20,000 and recieved many donated instruments from many generous people. So on behalf of Cinco Ranch and all the other Katy schools, I would like to say thanks to everyone who came or helped in any way (I also heard that the Woodlands College Park had a fundraiser at one of their football games, too). One day during class, Mr. Ouellette showed us a video of a story from an El Paso news station which ran a story on the fundraiser we were having, and they interviewed the Mountain View band students. They were so grateful and wanted to give us all hugs! It makes me happy.
  7. I haven't found the website for it, but I do know that all the Katy ISD bands will be there (Cinco Ranch, Katy Taylor, Morton Ranch, Mayde Creek, Katy, and possibly Seven Lakes). I've also heard the rumors that Langham Creek will be in attendance too (though its all just speculation).
  8. Bears win over the Saints and Colts win over the Patriots (hey it could happen )
  9. Well the second band from Cinco Ranch will be playing New Mexico March (Sousa) La Forza del Destino (Giuseppe Verdi) and L'Esprit du Tour (Randol Bass) and I've heard from my friends in the first band that they will be playing Trittico this year! now that will be awesome
  10. I'm playing Tableaux de Provence by Maurice, for alto sax of course. Should be fun learning it
  11. Well Cinco lost 34-31 to Pearland in overtime. I think we did very well, considering it was 7-28 in the 3rd quarter. Ah well, this year's season was amazing, and not something I'll soon forget Congratulations to Pearland!
  12. During finals at SHSU I was in the stands watching the remaining bands perform, and as Pearland was playing we noticed that there was a shoe on the field (lost by some poor marcher). The funny part was watching people march over it, stumbling because they are unaware that it was there. Nobody ever fell, but it sure was fun watching
  13. Well Cinco Ranch (now 11-1) defeated Westside (now 10-2) tonight at Reliant Stadium Final Score: 48-20 And so now we move on to face Pearland (10-2) next Saturday (Dec. 2) at Reliant Stadium at 1:00 p.m. Kudos to Pearland for their win against North Shore
  14. Our varsity football team has never won a playoff game since the school opened (in 1999). We have gone to the playoffs quite a few times, but we always lose the first game. Hopefully this year will be different
  15. Well, just recently at Seven Lakes HS (in Katy ISD) a 16 year-old junior shot himself outside school during lunch. The football team just happenend to be outside practicing at the time, and saw the whole event happen. Then the school went into lockdown and everyone had to stay in their 5th period classes for the rest of the day
  16. Well Cinco seems to have on and off years. In 2004 the team was great, last year we were horrible, and this year we are much better (8-1 overall, 5-1 in district). The biggest dissapointment this year is when we played our rival, Katy. Alas, this important matchup was on the same day as the Area E contest, so the band wasn't able to be there. Cinco ended up losing 3-17 (although we were just happy it wasn't a complete blowout like previous years where we lost 56-7) Hopefully we will do well in playoffs
  17. I watched the show in finals at SHSU and it was amazing! You guys most definitely deserved 1st place, and the music "puzzle pieces" coming together at the end was a very nice touch. Anyways, has anyone seen Cinco Ranch?
  18. 7) Cinco Ranch Ah well at least we placed higher than last year (10th). Funny story Announcer: "Please remember that the list of bands that advance to finals is in alphabetical order, not in order of scores 1) College Park HS (entire Cinco band gasps) 2) Cinco Ranch HS (entire band cheers)" So now "o" comes before "i"?
  19. The full results are now up on the UIL website http://www.uilforms.com/regions/23/AREA%20...esults-2006.pdf
  20. Yes, we were very suprised about the results also, but I do not know where you got the idea that we spent a large sum of money. There is nothing we have that costs very much! All of our props are pretty much hand-made by our fabulous band parents/booster club, and the only items I could think of would be the concert french horns we used during one part of our show, but those are school-owned and we purchased those quite some time ago. But thanks anyway for the complement!
  21. Once you make it to finals, class doesn't matter anyway So I don't know how much a different class classification will help very much (maybe for the preliminaries (sp?), but not for finals).

Only 3 bands out of the many excellent ones attending will move on from area to state this year
  23. Well I just got back from the region competition and so far this is what I know: Cinco Ranch, Elsik, and (Katy) Taylor received 1s (that is what they announced at Rhodes Stadium while we were there) Our BD told us that 6 bands from region 23 made 1s (I don't know this for sure, but that is what he told us) Therefore, a grand total of 19 bands will be at the Area E competition Meaning only 3 will advance to state
