  1. At Westwood, it doesn't matter how loud or soft we play- The other team will score, and we will lose our game. Let's be honest. The real reason we're at football games is so we can walk around on the field and practice drill for the competition. We're there for ourselves, not the football team. There are times when we leave during the middle of a game to prepare for a competition the next day. Therefore, the priorities really are 1. Ourselves, 2. the football team. I'm sure it's different in other places especially Allen (I respect you guys), but this is how it is out here.
  2. Well guess what, it's ridiculously difficult to do well academically while in marching band. I talked to some of my Westlake friends (#52), and they say that there are very few people ranked in their top 10% in band.
  3. Controversy: How Westwood band will go a little over 8 hours of practice time every now and then just to piss me off and they will never get punished for it. Do we seriously end practice, that is not to even ask to be in the band hall, at 8:30 everyday? Heck no. Someone should investigate us next year and punish us. This isn't fair. 8 hours is 8 hours, not 8 hours and 3 minutes. #westwoodbandprobz
  4. Thingz that suck big onez: Having to deal with Westwood Marching Band and summer band. I wish I could just choke and die.
  5. Well, we obviously didn't win because there are people like me. But lets get serious, our show wasn't that great, the dinky watchtowers, lol. The rain also saved things for us, or else we would've gone home at 4 am... are my parents supposed to just sit up all night to pick me up?
  6. I agree with you on some points, but I hope that you realize that I can see any marching show on Youtube if I really wanted to see it. Youtube also has a replay function that allows me to see something interesting multiple times. Great time management strategy you mentioned there, socialize on the bus while being awake for 20 straight hours. I hope your realize that education has changed drastically since your times, and it should also be worth mentioning that this is an extra curricular class. If you had taken IB/AP US history or IB Theory of Knowledge, you would see a rapid shift in demographics since the late 20th century that has made college admissions and the work force more competitive. In the past few years, the best schools that students in our band have gone to is UT Austin, while other students go to Yale and Harvard. There are plenty of other ways to balance extra curricular and academics, and I've already had plenty of those experiences. Your "heavy" class load was probably a lot easier than what we get every night. Was your high school ranked at the top of the nation? Just please. Get real.
  7. FML, why are we even going. Traveling many miles from Austin when homework will burn a hole in my report card by the time the 6 weeks is over.
