  1. Hey Daniel, as you are racing down to San Antonio, let me know if there are any areas under construction on 35 that we should be aware of so maybe we can find an alternative route! I hate the drive from North Dallas to San Antonio! LeanderMom - I know how to find you on Saturday, just look for the one with the index cards around her neck, LOL!
  2. A few Frisco band parents who sat by me were commenting that they didn't understand why Plano bands were even there as they had enough for their own Region. Well I would have preferred not to drive all the way to Little Elm myself, LOL.
  3. I haven't seen Lake Ridge but I agree with your predictions based on what I have heard. I liked Prospers show but Wakelands last movement with Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral sold it to me.
  4. I had to chuckle at the 59 degrees being an issue, but that is just the Wisconsin girl in me Try playing the clarinet in the Christmas parade with it's below freezing... hard to do when you can't feel your fingers, LOL. But I really do understand what you are saying. They have to keep those instruments warm, especially if they have soloist that have different instruments up front that they have to step up and play. I was at that stadium last weekend for the Region 24 contest (Little Elm correct, I think that is where the area is al well), and the wind coming from the right of the stadium (if you are looking at the field from the stands) was definitely an issue for a number of schools, with both props and color guard.
  5. Booked the hotel room for the weekend I will have to see if I can get my kids up and ready to be there for the first block of bands on Saturday!
  6. Does anyone have any insight why the schedule isn't out yet? Less than two weeks away! I know some bands know their time but I don't have any insider info anymore!
  7. Sorry.. Region 24 is in area B. The bands would be Prosper, Wakeland, Centennial, Liberty, Heritage, etc... so the Frisco school. All schools received a 1 rating. And they all should get extra credit... the wind was brutal!
  8. I think they definitely deserve what they make. And with the other activities that are year round (UIL Solo and Ensemble, concert band, other trips, etc) I think they deserve more, LOL than a football coach
  9. I was thinking the same thing, we need the schedule! Last time we went we left at 4 am.Saturday but need to know if we need to take Friday off.
  10. I am going to see if my son at college station can join us too (he would be the PESH graduate). I have to get approval from from work but hopefully its not an issue. Then I have to figure out if I can take my son out of school (HS Freshman) for a day!
  11. Now that I know that my family from the North (Wisconsin) isn't traveling here for Thanksgiving, I have a few spare vacation days to spare this year. Was thinking I need a break and might venture down to SA to see the bands . Any suggestions for hotels within walking distance that are reasonable in price? I have stayed at the Drury Inn a few years ago, the one on St. Mary's and Commerce (I think), but the walk is a bit of a hike.
  12. It was one of the fun show's I've seen in awhile. I am still smiling about it! Maybe you can find it on Youtube, or maybe quile78 can get you a link to one (I know many of the shows are not available anymore for privacy/copyright reasons).
  13. I think the band playing star wars was Duncanville. I might be wrong but they played Enterprising Young Men and I believe that was Star Wars. and Hebron was fantastic last night!
  14. Oops I was looking at the other thread which Marcus won. Yes... I meant Hebron!
  15. Clark HS only competed in the non varsity bands which were the 6 plano high school with 9th and 10th graders. They just compete to get a UIL rating. They did rock.. got Division 1 ratings across the board... best of the NV bands. It is very confusing to those not from Plano, LOL.
  16. So hard to pick between FloMo and Hebron as they both have their moments. I think under the lights though, FloMo's uniforms just pop out and really add to the visual effect. And I have to give a shout out to Sacshe. That show is great! "Everytime you march out of step a kitty dies". I am still laughing about it! and so glad no cats were mistreated in the making of your show. Awesome themed show. Heritage's was pretty good too.
  17. No scores were given. Duncanville was awarded the John Davis spirit award.
  18. 1. Flower Mound 2. Hebron 3. Sacshe 4. Heritage 5. Duncanville 6. Granbury 7. Frisco HS 8. James Bowie 9. Naaman Smith visual -Flomo music - Hebron
  19. I have no idea and I am here. I can tell you that Arlington Bowie. naaman Smith, Granbury and Frisco High school have been on. Heritage is coming on now.
  20. I was there earlier for the Plano NV Bands (9th/10th grade high schools) After two hours in the baking sun we left. Going back for finals tonight though! And I would be a bad band Mom if I didn't say Clark HS rocked their performance, LOL
  21. I wish PESH would do an exhibition show at their invitational. Curious what improvements have been made since BOA DFW. Excited to see the FloMo and Hebron shows live tomorrow. As well as many of the other bands as well. My son bailed on for tomorrow evening (for the finals), so hopefully I can talk my husband into going!.
  22. 23. Does anyone know anyrhing about Seven Lakes? The band director there use to teach years ago at Clark HS in Plano and made a huge impact there. Clark is a 9th and 10th grade school and he moved on eventually to a higher level position. Now he is at Seven Lakes and I can't help wonder about the band.
