No I did not want Bell to win I wanted either Marcus or Reagan to win. I also think that it is bad that they won SA and Silver @ State because they are completly different competitions, with one based off a more technical judging and another judged on more flashyness. Therefore this shows that the State judges were giving their good scores to more BOA bands, which is uncommon in State.

could it be perhaps that bell has great show designers AND can play and march well? nah. no way.

  2. I think the entire Richland section of the stands(me included) was DEAD silent when they announced akins in finals last. Oh well, I have absolutely no regrets about my performance, you can't complain when you have an insanely cool solo on tuba that you get to wear freakin sunglasses for.

Great job to all the bands that made it, and I'm personally casting my vote for Bell as 2006 GN champions. Great job guys. you know how to throw off THE vibe.

tubas are just expanded trumpets, except they sound different. BAD different.

    hahahaha tubas suck

I wouldn't be saying that if I were you mr. I can out-blast the whole band.

My cousins came to a football game the other day, and I found out something very scary. My cousin (a girl) has started to play the tuba, and has expressed and interest in marching band. I'll be scared when (if) she get's exposed to high school tubas.

I smell trouble. or maybe that's just my section...

Freshman year region band auditions were pretty fun ... one kid was horrible(including over half the room) and he decided he had no chance. He went up to the performance chair and played a pedal Bb, got up, packed up his horn, and left the room. The head judge said please warm up on the first note of the etude only as the kid is packing up his horn. The judges just waited on nothing as everyone laughs. Our room moniter was too confused to do anything. Next up is a very uncoordinated (way below average band nerd) who started 3 lines from the cut. He gets up from the chair sniffling, then tries to squeeze by the row closed to the dry erase board. Now this kid is overweight, and happens to hit two porcelein sculptures that fall to the floor and shatter. The room is pretty loud now and the even the judges are laughing. That is the most fun i have had waiting in region tryouts ever. Btw, you really had to be there to see the kids.

we had about 70 tubas last year. and my room had all the people that would make area except for one in it. gah. talk about intense concentration and mind games.

I've got a little personal tweaking I need to make in my drill transitions, but other than that, I think I'm ready for BOA this year.

In a couple days, I'm sure the new tasks being thrown into the show this week will make the band more ready as well. :3

isn't that like saying "I need to be better at band"? talk about a general statement. EVERYONE has to work on their drill transitions.

marcus always had difficult drill when i was there(at least the last two years did, lol). i'm pretty sure the props took away from that. because when i saw them at BOA arlington, i remember thinking they had a LOT of props... though after i saw the show, i thought they all served their purpose quite well, but then again i'm used to a lot of props so i usually ignore them, lol. i can definitely see how someone would consider some of them a bit cumbersome.

as for richland(someone posted a question about it... i think)

yeah, your show was really cool, and i loved the tuba thing and the beatbox, not to mention how incredibly difficult your music is(which you sound brilliant on, btw). it was great. i really love how you guys can put modern(popular) things in your show, yet still remain true to the music. it seems as though you guys are having a lot of fun while getting better musically, which is pretty much the point. there really aren't enough good things to say about you guys. but i do have a good story... at BOA arlington, my boyfriend came with me(his first ever marching contest). and you guys were his favorite out of everyone we saw. he was raving about your show(not to mention, being extremely impressed with how BIG the marching band scene is in texas, lol). it takes a tremendous amount of skill to impress the BOA judges and the UIL judge, while being exciting for the not so 'BAND' people... great job on a great show and good luck this weekend...

    ...and props to you(literally, lol)

marcus and richland are the only people from tha 'B' that i saw(at least the only advancing bands, lol)

i'm dyin' to see bell, hebron, and haltom though. just cus they're all fricken amazing, lol.

thank you very much. as one of the tubas, that means a lot to me.

I don't think we heard much of anything but the cheers when we did DDR we were really focused... although i would like to thank the Richland band for cheering for us as we walked off the feild! Thanks guy! ANd by the way are celebrations in the stands did yell for yall too loL!

you're welcome. I have to give major props to ya'll for having such a great year, and your first in 5A too!

yea, seriously, i dont get what you are whining about. they were really happy that they made it. then the band directors told them to calm down till the end and then after all the anouncments, they were allowed to celebrate again. why do you care enough to argue about it anyways? the camcorders are for a movie that some of the band kids make at the end of every year to reflect on it.

    It's alright, gavin's just a little...gavin.

arguing about another band's reaction. WAY TO GO GAVIN. real mature buddy, real mature.
