On a brighter note from a Richland Band Parent/Volunteer since 2007 an observation from one of our Parent/Volunteer: I want to share something incredible with you! In state finals over the past 3 years, I have been Blue Crew, box truck driver, chaperone, section parent, and lots of other things in between. However yesterday, WE were the recipient of PRAISE. The Front Ensemble was coming off the field with our equipment and scrims in the state finals and the Lone Star band was clapping and cheering for us at the exit, as they were waiting to enter the field for their performance. Telling us great job band! Good job prop crew! Etc. Does it change our performance? No. Did it cost them anything? No. Did it give me an AMAZING PERCEPTION of Lone Star? YES!!! That’s what good sportsmanship is all about! I loved seeing their example! I have done some of this in the past for other bands, but I’m going to do better at every football game, contest, and every representation of RHS Band going forward. We Are Richland Band and we are AWESOME! We can encourage the other bands competing with us!

This season has been the worst prelim performance times since I’ve been with Richland. But it has prepared the band for this moment. I was at the practice at the stadium on Monday with the pre show and closer presentation . It’s a wonderful production on par with 2023 and definitely better than 2024. I think it will be an eye opening show since it has not been performed in any contest or game. Even at the Aledo game it was cut short due to time. -

Congratulations to all the bands and special shoutout to the great folks in the stands for enduring so brutal weather. Richland is not peaking yet but headed in the right direction. I can’t wait for the final product in the Area contest. I believe they will do very well. -
I’ve been with Richland since 2007 and seen all their shows. I’ve seen the glory years, the low years and recently the resurgence. I love this years show “The Third Dimension “ and believe it will bring some good results. Richland has a wonderful band program and I wish more attention was spent on programs that are not on the top tier and everyone knows who they are but that’s fine they are a respected program and I have had wonderful memories of all their performances.

I hear you Anthony on Richland. I’ve been with Richland since 2007 and have been in some hard times the last 4-5 years. But you keep supporting them and hope we can turn this around. The current group you saw only 1 senior so have a lot of growing to do . -

UIL 5A Area F 2025

I think you’re confusing last year with two years ago. Aledo place 1st in Area F and Richland place 2nd. This was Richland show called Under Pressure. At state two years ago Richland advance to finals Aledo did not. Last year Aledo place 1st and Richland place 5th. Aledo made finals Richland did not. -

Sounds like an excuse. My point was Richland was within striking distance and that was a good indicator that they had a good show to expect good results at the state contest. -

Richland show is “The Third Dimension”. Watched there first stadium practice and the show will be stronger than last year, has the potential to surpass the volcano show two seasons ago which was received well by the judges and just missed beating Aledo but it’s all about learning the drill, music and performing it. -

I would think Richland is a lock along with Aledo and BC. They qualified for State the last three season just missed beating out Aledo in 2023. This seasons show will be as strong with the possibility of excelling the past two seasons. I do hope Area F gets 5 representatives again, I feel the last two spots can be anyone’s. -
Richland has a better show this year than last years state finals. They just need to perform and let the cards fall where they may. I’ve been to several State contest with this group and seen some crazy stuff when it comes to judging. For example last year didn’t see Aledo not making finals and Richland did. Richland band and directors are wonderful. Yes we would like to make finals but it’s about continuing to improve each season and continuing the rich history this band has. Any band making it to State can hold there head high and know they are in a special group of 5A bands. Go Richland Band we are proud of you!
