preds cause why not: 1. BAC (GE, guard, perc) 2. Bloo 3. BD (visual) 4. Crown (brass) 5. PR 6. SCV/Mandis 7. Mandis/SCV 8. Troopers 9. Cavies 10. Blue Stars 11. Colts 12. Pacific Crest( PLEASE) Obv it’s wayyyy too early to tell, 1-4, 5-7 and 8-11 could go anyway. I predict the battle for 12th to be insane, I would LOVE a tie so we get 13 finalist. For captions same thing, but yeah, can’t wait for this weekend!!

Season starts of Friday even though it’s not scored. Best of luck to the corps, the performers, and most of all to the BD drum major/soprano saxophone!

I agree on Lake Highlands being one of those schools that could sneak higher than they can. I remember seeing a clip of them early last year like September and I was impressed even then. Really wish I saw their show in person. I agree with Royse City too, they are one of those schools that I think anyone would love to make finals, would be really cool to see. For duncanville, I think they'll probably do fine but other schools can definitely take advantage (Berkner or Rockwall or maybe LH). I think Sachse will stay put at 1st though, the first time I heard their show last year I was in awe the whole time.

Pretty good take on things. I think the most underrated out of all these bands is Lake Highlands. I feel like Lake Highlands is on the rise and could definitely make a statement for themselves next year. 1. Wax 2. Sachse 3. Forney 4. Rockwall 5. Berkner 6. D-Ville 7. LH 8. JJ Pearce 9. Rockwall Heath 10. Royce City I think my question comes around where Duncanville will fall. I’m not saying I don’t have faith in the new director, far from it. I just think other bands will take it to heart. Also I really think Royce City could make it to finals next year. They weren’t far off last year. Also I’ve heard about their show theme and it seems really cool.

Probably like 20 more staff changes.... jk lol Heres my top 10 for now 1. Sachse 2. Wax 3. Dville 4. Berkner 5. Forney 6. Rockwall 7. J.J Pearce 8. Lake Highlands 9. Rockwall Heath 10. Rowlett I know Sachse has a large director change, but I have no doubt that they will have a good season still. As long as they can take what they learnt last year from one of my favorite Sachse shows if not 2024 shows, they will have another state year. I think that Berkner could have a good enough show to make state again and sneak in the Top 4. If they can match something similar to that 2023 show I'd love to see it. I think Rowlett could be a hidden gem this year, not sure what it is but I have a feeling they could be a sleeper this year, so keep an eye out for them. Richardson and Royse are also good picks for finals as well, excited to see how this area turns out.

Seems a little quiet over here now. Anyone got predictions after….whatever happened these two months?
-
I guess I’ll start this off with my predictions for Area Finals this year 1 - Laredo Alexander 2 - Laredo United (State ^) 3 - Weslaco 4 - Edinburgh 5 - Brownsville Hanna 6 - PSJA 7 - Los Fresnos Some honorable mentions that could make it are Harlingen, Edinburgh North, or Veterans making finals. I see this as a wildcard year where a lot of bands have potential to make finals, but I do think only Alexander United are the top for me

Aledo as well. Haltom also might be, they have local contest on their calendar for this day. Unfortunately looks like Melissa is taking away a good amount this year

Yeah, percussion can definitely affect Hebron in the scoring in the past, which makes me wonder if the new Area system will affect Hebron specifically, or if it might bring people up ranks with the new factors involved. Also, seeing the winners of the HS division which was the 2 mentioned along with Frisco Heritage win, and also Frisco Memorial and Little Elm's percussion ensembles get invited to Midwest just really shows how much development we are getting in the performing arts over here in the North DFW area in this Sam Rayburn/380 corridor, and it is such a sight to see how developed these programs are, and how it makes your jaw drop not even just at percussion contests, but watching half time shows with band and drill team, and winterguard contests, just seeing how this area has flourished with fine arts is so incredible.

music update: a-ha Take on Me some sort of radiohead/cyndi lauper other half I don't have much a clue about -
Congrats to both programs!! Hopefully this translates well into Hebron having a higher perc score at state with that seeming to be the thing that hurts them the most musically, but also might be the books aren’t anything crazy idk but still congrats to both
-
BIG things are happening in Area J for percussion!!! Congrats to both Braswell and Hebron HS Percussion for both being winners of PASIC 2025 International Percussion Ensemble Competition in the HS division!!! Percussion will be really strong in this area with lots of programs doing really good this spring and summer in percussion!!
