GDYO/DWS concert at the Meyerson

On January 31st, the GDYO Wind Symphony and the Dallas Wind Symphony are having an annual joint concert at the Meyerson. The program will be this:

 

GDYO- directed by David Kehler

Star Spangled Banner

Molly on the Shore- Percy Grainger

English Dances, Book I- Malcolm Arnold

 

DWS- directed by Jerry Junkin

Savannah River Holiday- Ron Nelson

In Memoriam- David Maslanka

George Washington Bridge- William Schuman

 

GDYO+DWS- directed by Jerry Junkin

Symphony no. 4- David Maslanka

 

If you've never heard Maslanka's fourth symphony, you're missing out big time. Loud, loud, loud piece but incredibly awesome. 100+ winds+organ will be simply incredible, so you should definitely come.

by the way, the combined brasses of both groups are doing a fanfare in the circular lobby of the meyerson before the concert.

yeaa it is. i think its 4000+ pipes.

 

if you come, i recommend stowing away and joining the group on the stage. the stage vibrates a TON with the organ playing behind you. its awesome.
