Welcome back to the seventh season of TxBands.com fall marching band coverage!

 

We have some exciting updates to predictions to share!

Scoring

Under the old system, you received 1 point every time you correctly predicted a band's placement. For example, if you said a band was going to be 7th and they were, you would get 1 point. If they were 6th or 8th, you wouldn't receive anything.

The new system still gives you 1 point for every correct placement, but now gives fractional points within a margin of error up to +/- 3 placements. For example, if you predict a band as 7th and it was in 5th, you would still receive 0.5 points. We hope this new system better rewards people for having a good general idea of what bands will make finals and where they will place rather than only rewarding you for knowing exactly what the placements will be.

Exact placement = 1.00

+/- 1 = 0.75

+/- 2 = 0.50

+/- 3 = 0.25

 

Prizes

Prizes are back for this predictions season. Not only will we have prizes for the top scorers, but also other participants in predictions! All winners will receive Amazon.com giftcards, iTunes giftcards, or TxBands merchandise!

Random member who has predicted in an event (predict in all possible events to increase your chances of winning this)

Random member who has added an event (add local marching competitions where you'll know the roster and outcome to win this)

 

Events

Please suggest events to add! Not only does this increase your chance of winning a prize, it also helps out TxBands! If you add an event, make sure to follow the directions. We can only accept events where bands are ranked, so competition where ordinals or ratings are given out won't work. Also, if the event is a small one where it may be difficult for our staff to find the results, we'll probably be contacting you for help!
