Drummantx Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Last year our line instructor said a line that hangs together, does well. Well I was a dumb little freshman and thought yeah right. Our section was bassicly the seniors and junior, the sophmore, and the freshmen. We were really divided and didn't really interact. That season we didn't exactly do well. This year everyone just has loads of fun with eachother, we go bowling, eating, and just hang out and have fun. This year we jumped probably over ten points at a drumline competition and are doing so much better. It just seems that when you can actually be around your section members you do fantastic. How do you feel about this concept? I feel it's very important when it comes to the overall skill of your section. Quote
Born 2 XLR-8 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I think you're right. Our section hasn't done much together, but instead, have been **** to each other. I don't remember the last time we wished each other good luck before a competition. Quote

Before every UIL or invitational, everyone gathers into their sections (excluding pit for unloading reasons) for their respective senior pep talk/section chants/section song and to wish each other "good show." It helps us all to take the peaks and falls together, which I think is really important when you're in a huge group effort like this. I've noticed it's also crazy important to interact with other sections, though. Again, it's the learning to take everything together thing instead of making it about singling out one person or one section. The band kids have been interacting a TON the past few months, and it's definitely made us stronger in leaps and bounds this season. Quote
