Well one of the tenor saxes in my school got first chair district in the region band audition. When it came for the second round, someone was disqualified and since he was the alternate, he got to audition in the second round. He was only given like a 15 minute notice before the audition too. Well so he auditioned and low and behold he got second chair first band. So now he gets to move on to the third round of auditions. Has that ever happened to anyone before???

Not exactly that, but my 7th grade year I was the last chair to make region auditions, and then I got 6th chair out of 30 there.

I've seen this situation before. One kid I knew tried out on bari sax and bass clarinet, making Region on both instruments. He was told to make a decision on which instrument to advance on before the contest but he didn't come forward with it until the day of the contest. I believe he chose bass clarinet, so the alternate for the bari sax room had to be called up that day.

 

Just curious: Why was the kid disqualified?

I dont know why he was disqualified. Our BD didnt really give much explanation.

EDTI: upon further review, it has come to my attention that i was NOT the only one. but that's funny though.
