this is an interesting one since it's so early in the season 

anyone want to name the bands who will look the best in this pool?

I could see Clements get first place at this contest because in prelims of area last year they beat out both Fulshear and Pasadena Memorial. I heard a snippet of Clements show and it sounds like there brass got way better which makes me think that the chances of them winning is pretty high in my personal opinion.

Last year Clements got 7th in the prelims and 8th in finals. It’s also new year, nee shows. Anything can happen.

How does this competition work. Are the tops band performing again from 6:45-9:15p? Or are the performances only during the preliminarys?

There’s a schedule just a couple posts above yours. Once preliminaries are done, there is a break until finals. Then the top ten bands perform in finals. First the bottom 5 bands in random order, then the top 5 bands in random order.

I was just about to ask about them cause they performed at 11:30am hope they had a good run of anyone there at the comp is watching groups.

How does it work for spectators? First time going so wasn’t sure if stadium chairs needed and if snacks are ok to bring in.

The seat are the bleachers and chairs in the stadium and I do not believe they allow you to bring food in and bags I am pretty sure have to be clear for security and safety

Been out of state on and off the past 2 weeks but finally back in Houston for the greatest time of year - MARCHING CONTEST SEASON! 🤩

So far from what I've seen today - LOVE IT! Obviously some small rough spots visually and musically with things that will get better throughout the season for each group so far, but it definitely feels like a step up for each of these groups from last year at this time of the year.  

I'm gonna refrain from any finals predictions until we get through prelims, but if the first block is an indicator for the rest of the day, everyone is off to a great start to their seasons with their shows!

That is great to hear hope to see growth from groups this year, were you able to see Ridge Point perform earlier on?

Yeah - they had a great showing for their first contest performance this year, especially with their mid day performance time as heat has started to slowly creep up before lunch! From what I recall from their performance last year they have definitely continued to take positive strides and growth with their music and visual performances at this same contest a year ago.   

I wish I could rock a cowboy hat as well as they all can!
