Hannah finished 17th in 2006 (Ahead of Hebron and Cedar Park!)  All that info is on the UIL Music website.

Dunno why everyone is hyping Harlingen, not what they were.  JBA isn't all that amazing (but their good) - they just are real real big and hype.  They peak early and never really seem to continue to get better.

LF sounds crazy good.

I agree there's a lot of talent down in Area G - we all just need to keep trying.

That’s awesome I didn’t know that! Harlingen is great for their size. They make good sounds and look good. I’m a fan of Harlingen if you can’t tell lol. But they aren’t what they used to be but they seem to be bouncing back. Yeah JBA usually peaks earlier and gets beat by Hanna at state who peaks later. Tomorrow is going to be very entertaining Happy Bandtober!

Yes!! Our director at Hanna would post those results up sometimes in the band hall to show that we beat Hebron before, great memory! I’m pretty sure that was when they had to march at Baylor if I’m correct!
Harlingen doesn’t have the numbers they used too, but they are still putting out quality sound, that’s impressive. The work they put in to achieve that isn’t going unnoticed!
JBA is much better this year though, and with Area much earlier this year and a lot of shows still not done, I feel like a lot of the “Peak Late” bands will not be as strong due to scheduling unfortunately. AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY ON LF, they are amazing this year!!! I see them possibly taking the final state spot (3rd) at Area this year 👀

Danggg that’s old lol. That was early 2000s late 90s if I’m not mistaken.
I think the hype of Harlingen is it’s exciting to see a former powerhouse getting back up on their feet again. Production from them is miles better than last year. I would love to see them really lock in and get clean and hopefully become a contender but we’ll see where they stand on Saturday hopefully that’ll give us an idea of them. The late bloomers won’t be a strong hopefully they put in the work and really tap in using their time. WOW LF keeps getting better and better I have them at 2nd for area depending on United. Let’s get some predictions after tmw gives an idea!

Hey guys! Crazy big day of comp and a lot of stuff to unpack. So, the elephant in the room, Harlingen champs!! This is a huge deal. First off, I gotta say, I know not everyone will agree with the scores but we have to be civil about this, I get your band may have been good and you disagree with the scores but everyone works really hard for their shows and bringing people down isn’t the way to do things! With that being said, congrats to Harlingen, what a big comeback from last year!! What a nice show they have! Also congrats to Weslaco and LF for taking the other 2 spots. Great showings from EVERYONE! What an amazing competition guys, I can’t wait to see what happens when Area rolls around!

Harlingen as Grand Champions! Rooting for them!! Their comeback year??? Weslaco 2nd and LF in 3rd!! Fantastic from our medalists!! Gonna spark some interesting conversations of where our 6A bands stand. Let’s be civil about it and let’s also get some rankings going! Congratulations to everyone!

Really hope that Hanna will lock in like usual and make state by peaking late this year. I know we got 7th last year, but area was a week later that year. Content scores seem to be lacking which is uncontrollable at this point so I’m kinda scared to see how things go. Other than that I’m proud to see how good every band is doing this year and making it real competitive. I loved the Harlingen ending so much. Great touch.

Hanna isn’t it this year, I’ve been saying it. They usually lock in but they don’t have their 4th movement out yet and Normally that would be a good thing you know, like you don’t have your show finished but many other schools don’t have their closer on the field yet, but are still cleaner. I hope the props look cool if they use them soon. Nothing really stood out to me with the show playing, visually, the show just feels kind of uninspired in its design. The only cool thing is the solos in my opinion. And yeah, content scores are a good telling of how a band will place rather than achievement because it’s how much they can go up rather than how much can you clean I think.

Harlingen!!! Amazing seeing them up there.

As for UISD festival results:

1st:JBA 2nd:United 3rd:Edinburg North

There was a 9 point gap between United and Edinburg North. And there was a 1 point gap between JBA and United.

I’m loving what i’m seeing from all these bands! It’s still a toss up!

Harlingen was amazing! Their new content and full show sounds fantastic can’t wait for more of them! Hanna sounds good their signature sound peaks through but once they refine it more it’ll really shine! How did Harlingen do it!? They’re a lot smaller than the other 6A bands but their sound rocked the stadium and they we very clean visually i loved it! Predictions anyone?

They definitely have their work cut out for them. They could catch up possibly by pigskin and become a contender.

Love the storytelling going on there. The ending was amazing, kinda reminded me of “It Is” for some reason.
Id say with this in mind, Harlingen solidifies their spot at finals this year. Definitely a HUGE LEAP in the right direction. You can tell they love the show this year!
For area, I’d like to say

1. Alexander

2. United

3. Weslaco

4. LF

5. Harlingen/Hanna

6. Hanna/Harlingen

7. Edinburgh

it’s such a crazy year this year I can not keep up!!

Last night was absolutely phenomenal. I really enjoyed seeing 6A at San Benito last night. Amazing shows all throughout. And HARLINGEN as champions!! What a comeback from last year! I absolutely enjoyed their show, way to set the standard for 6A! It's always incredible to see a band rise up like that, and I could tell the rest of the audience was into it, especially that ending. Their sound is ridiculously big and clear for a band of their size, wonder if the judges saw that!  The other medalists last night, Weslaco and Los Fresnos, blew me away as well. Love the concept behind Weslaco's show, and the electronic and front ensemble textures add so much to the overall vibe of it. Los Fresnos woodwinds never fail to impress me. Those runs are not for the weak! Their show appears to be about travelling the world I believe. Either way, such a clean sound and can't wait to see how much more they grow by Area. Edinburg had a really fun show too. The circus theme has so much potential and could seriously surprise in the remaining weeks. Not too sure about Hanna, I'm sure the final product will be much, much better as they always peak by Area, but as of right now it's pretty barebones compared to previous years. I'm pretty certain uniforms aren't final, but what about the props? Wonder if they'll surprise again like with the ship last year! Hanna is a great program, but they just need that push to get back into the top! The music sounds really good, but listening to it again, I hear a tuba just goin' for it back there! No way they will be out of finals this year, however.

As of right now, my predictions for Area Finals are the following:

STATE:
1. JBA/United

2. United/JBA
3. Harlingen/Los Fresnos

FINALS:

4. Los Fresnos/Harlingen

5. Edinburgh North

6. Hanna

7. Edinburg

FINALS BUBBLE:

8. PSJA

9. Bville Vets

Can’t spoil too much, but I will say that while the props are pretty basic this year (but still cool), there’s other things that will be added that’ll bring the show at least a little more together in my opinion! Never count them out, never!

and I’d agree with your prediction but where is Weslaco !! lol

Good to hear! Hope to see catch them again at City of Palms this Saturday, it’s going to be a real good contest, with 12 out of the 15 6A bands performing that day! United making their first appearance in a RGV comp, wonder how that will shake things up! JBA will not be present, so most of Area G will not face off against them again until Area. Also not going to City of Palms are Edinburgh North and United South. This week we will get a more solid idea of what the final placings will be at Area. What do y’all think? Let’s get some discussion going on which bands might level up, down, or stay the same.

And about my predictions- I knew I was missing a band haha. I would put Weslaco at 5th, shifting everything below down a spot. The results are going to be very very close regardless, lots of hardworking groups down here!

I saw the score report somewhere and I think you might be mistaken.

JBA beat United by 20+ points in the total score. I think the confusion is coming from one judge that had JBA beating United by 1 point in visual.

Regardless, both have an amazing show so early in the season!!

Oh wow! I would love to get confirmation somehow because my statement was based on what some united staff told me! It is possible I misheard. My apologies! I agree they are both doing amazing!
