Marble Falls got 21st at State last year and a 2 at Region this year. Anything is possible in marching band 👀

Springtown's been doing well this year, from their drumline contests to Melissa. I'm confident in saying that if they don't make State, they'll be pretty darn close. Just depends on how competitive the rest of the Area is.

i still think it shouldnt be that much of a difference

not saying anything isnt possible, just saying that its hard to disrupt the flow of what things already were, yes bands do end up not doing well at times but that doesnt change the program entirely, so like so many things would need to go wrong for that to happen to aubrey

What is the protocol if some bands have competed and then afterwards rain washes it all out for rest of day do they continue on the makeup day or how does all that work…

My guess is, if they’re able to start it, but it gets delayed too long, it goes from a prelims/finals format to just a prelims format and they’ll take the top 6 from the prelims run.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, Castleberry is performing better than last season and is in close competition with both Robinson and Aubrey. It’s quite likely that Castleberry will advance to the finals or even state. What are your thoughts on this situation?

Those of you who have seen their shows regularly, do we honestly think CS can beat PC? I’m legitimately curious if people either

1- just want this to happen 

2- are basing their predictions on last yesr

3- have actually seen these two bands and have a solid assessment. 
 

I’ve seen both (frisco showcase early in the season and Melissa) but it was so early I really don’t know who is on top. I would love a breakdown.

considering gatesville played in the rain last year in prelims and placing higher than they did in finals (3rd prelims, 4th finals), id consider it to be not that much of a difference if the bands are locked in and well trained

i feel like there is a high chance of this contest being moved since there is now a flood watch. i feel like it is better to move it than deal with the potential to damage instruments from 30 bands. but that’s just me.

Coming from a band in 4A Area B, it’s still going on as planned with NO CHANGES to the schedule.

China Springs and PC will fight it out for the top spot, while Alvarado and Krum will be battling it out on their own for the 3rd place spot. Aubrey, Robinson, Gatesville, Stephenville, and Castleberry will fight it out for the last two spots for state. Overall it will be a Good competition, and who knows if the Kings CS and PC are dethroned by the under dogs Alvarado and Krum.

From what I understand there are other areas that have moved to Monday as well due to rain but I could be wrong but haven’t heard anything on this one I know it’s supposed to be off and on all day Saturday I just think it would be fair to all kids if they moved it to Monday and let them have a chance at both prelims and finals but that’s me

From what I'm seeing, it supposed to do all the raining before 8am. And small chances throughout the day. The area website is showing  mostly 0.08 precipitation during most of the evening performances.

Like I said, a director has told me that the directors of these bands headed to Area received an email this afternoon about keeping it on Saturday. Sadly, it looks like it’ll be another 2024 situation where bands were having to perform between rain showers.

Appreciate the update as of now weather seems to be all Friday and Saturday wee morning and then clears out should be good till super late Saturday night so we shall see fingers crossed crossed lol

I feel bad for the first 8 ish bands. Rain is supposed to be off and on but there might be some performances where there's light rain in the air so hopefully the rain doesn't interfere with any performances. Good luck to all the bands tomorrow I know you will do good :D!

The official UIL schedule includes rain percentages next to each band's order. It looks like finals will be worse than prelims
