I agree and I did get an answer about the Don Hanna results and it was that Birdville did good musically but their visuals were apparently iffy and NM got the GE scores which boosted them really high

North mesquite and Lakeview Centennial were really battling it out on Saturday

i know Naaman forest qualified for finals at usbands and south was close i believe they were one away so we could se a potential 5th state spot… which would honestly make either the area more or less competitive 

Kaufman doing a good job at the midlothian contest getting third and poteet getting being the champion of midlothian…

I think we might be sleeping on west mesquite but I haven’t heard too much from them… and not a lot has been said amount Mount pleasant or HP for that matter  

To me, making a prediction is difficult 

HP got second and beat Kaufman.

WM beat Royse City and got fourth (beat by Celina, Sulphur Springs and Frisco liberty)

MP did not go to comp (as far as I know)

this area is def a toss up but I think all Mesquite schools will get a state spot and the last will go to either LC or MP.

The state spots become more and more unpredictable, but what I can say is thay south garland and namaan are really improving! I hope to see them at area this year

Wow they look okay, their brass really sticks out and their woodwinds need to play stronger and it looks like people don’t know their sets bc I saw a tuba literally took steps on a hold really interesting seeing Marshall hopefully they can clean drill and music

Red Oak @ Crowley.  The crowd sounds really hyped over them. They might improve their placement at finals this year.  Not sure about a state spot though.

This feels like rage bait lol. (1) Poteet literally beat HP this past weekend (2) NM is the two-year defending area champ so saying “it’s their year” is odd lol (3) it’s going to be really close this year but HP is def not getting second lol.

I believe that anything could happen because so far a lot of interesting things have happened in this season 

in the start highland park beat both LC and Kaufman 

Mount pleasant was being mysterious 

west mesquite showed their runs

LC went onto to go battle it out against north and beat them but then got beat

kaufman and poteet went head to head and Kaufman fell just short

(I’m kinda sad HP dropped out of so many contests that involved these bands it would spiced it up   ) 

It might just be me but I feel like there’s no clear clear prediction

I mentioned in a previous post that this area was super hard to predict, and it just got a lot more interesting.

A bunch of the pack tonight was at Royse City: Lakeview was 2nd, WM 4th, HP 5th, Terrell 6th

And then at Midlothian: Poteet was 1st, Kaufman 3rd, Red Oak 4th (0.5 pts behind Kaufman)

 

I stand by my earlier prediction that Poteet will be area champs, and NM at 2nd. After that, it could literally be anyone lol.

This is spot on.  An additional nuance is that (if I’m not mistaken) WM placed 3rd and above Lakeview in prelims.  WM also got second in prelims at Area last year.  It seems that they do better earlier in the day, so they should be sure to rest throughout the day of Area.  I think Poteet will get Area champs this year because they have done a good job of cleaning their show and executing their difficult music book.

West mesquite did get best in class in prelims but there was in error and they announced it incorrectly. West director was talking about it after the announcements. Also probably why they took so long announcing scores

Honestly good for them. Placement might've been wrong at the start but they claimed that spot and made them think twice, cool!
