Bandi Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 I’m not reading much into the Prosper show results for this contest, except to see that there are a lot good bands here… invitationals and the eye/ear test will prove a lot more reliable. Even the non-GE judges are really judging GE at BOA shows. The area sheets are very different… based on ordinals from every contest that’s used the new sheets this year, the only surefire bet is that there will be some surprises. Looking forward to a good contest! cheesecurd21 and WanderingTraveler 2
percussionontop Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 not gonna lie guys, I don't understand why we are so set on LT at the 3rd spot, obviously it would take a miracle for LS and Wakeland to not make state, but argyle has been solid these past few years, and I know that LT is having a phenomenal season, but like WG beat them and reedy in music and visual. I think it truly is no guarantee and will come down to the wire of who can push hardest and progress the most. just my take?.?.

Boa scoring is different and I don’t see WG coming in and making it over reedy or argyle. LT is on a different type of timing this year. I don’t want to say WG is “overrated” but they’re kind of idk what’s the word… overrated? That’s kind of a rude way to put it honestly. Saying a group is “overrated” comes off like you’re dismissing the work they’ve put in, and I know for a fact every single one of the programs in this area are working their butts off. Everyone’s working hard this season, and the scores or placements don’t always tell the full story. You’re entitled to an opinion but it shouldn’t be at the expense of invalidating another group’s work. bandballs123, FullRetreat and thispersonlovesheybaby 3

Very true, but I feel like saying someone is “overrated” just means that people are predicting them to be much higher than whoever it is predicts or thinks themselves. You’re right but I don’t think (I hope not) that it’s a diss at WG, just saying they think people rate them too high FullRetreat and opiniondropper25 2
Popular Post glyde Posted October 14, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 14, 2025 I think Melissa and Anna are fighting for that 4th place spot! They both show they want the state chair!!!! Miswordedstatements, cheesecurd21 and TrumpetBud24 1 2
mellodude Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 1. Wakeland: They’ve been locked in. 2. Rick Reedy: Lonestar has an off year, Rick Reedy high school capitalizes on this opportunity. 3. McKinney North: I feel like Lebanon trail will have a devastating time tear, taking away from their chance at state. McKinney North’s trumpet screamer will take them to state. 4. Walnut Grove: Go birds. Walnut grove has been on the rise since it’s creation and they finally join wakeland in the state troopers. 5. Lonestar: coming on a down year, their band has just really disappointed since the start of the season. I cant imagine them taking walnut groves state spot. 6. The Colony: Coming off a fourth place finish right behind lake belton, i can see them jumping back into the mix and fighting for that state spot again. 7. Lebanon Trail: Their time tear was too devastating. They miss state once again despite it being an up year for them and have their first bottom 5 finish in years. 8. Liberty: people say they’re good idk 9. Anna: I thought they won Melissa marching showcase 10. Independence: HOLY WALL OF SOUND. That brass sounds better than keller’s and the woodwinds have some of the most refined technique ever. Despite this, that time tear was horrible. Karma_Savior Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 1. Wakeland (Duh) 2. Lone Star (Double Duh) 3. Lebanon Trail (They are out for blood this year) 4. Argyle (Always incredible, and getting better contest after contest) 5. McKinney North (Still great, it's just a tough area) 6. Reedy 7. Independence 8. Heritage (I always feel like they're underrated, this is a wonderful program) 9. Walnut Grove 10. The Colony (Great showing at Birdville this past weekend!) Tubalord11 and caravansolo181 2
dciisrproudtopresent Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 my personal predictions for this area: 1. lone star - tubalord glaze 2. wakeland - kinda fractured visuals 3. liberty - very cool visuals, statebound, love the sax quartet, could use some more bari 4. LT - dr seuss kinda show, cool sound 5. the colony - lowkey an up year for them, might win state! 6. argyle - wheat, really? (farmers village ahh show) ewheat ball knowledge 7. MN - overused and fell off🥱 jazz show #275974269053 8. independence - phenomenal marching technique and woodwind contribution, could use some more volume on the tuba solo. very strong dark sound. 9. Reedy - don’t really understand the abstract theme 10. Walnut grove - lowkey not a fan of water 💦 i prefer cocacola 11. Heritage - could make state if they had more passion 1-3 locks 4-11 anything can happen frisco, memorial, centennial, emerson in bubble, memorial could slide in tho glyde and Tubalord11 2
cheesecurd21 Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 Looking at Colony, I agree with saying they’ll do very well (I predicted them to be 8-10 way back in August) but even thought they did fairly well in 2023 and 2022, I don’t think it will be state for them. Despite the off year last year where bands like Colony Emerson and Independence got surprisingly low and bands like Liberty Heritage and Memorial got surprisingly high, I think this year will be much different. Independence Colony and Emerson all will do better than Heritage and Liberty in my opinion, and I don’t think memorial is really still in the running for finals.

Popular Post Mike McBandiel Posted October 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 15, 2025 Just my take but I think that Lebanon Trail and Argyle will be fighting for 3rd. I’ve been looking at the scores lately from McKinney and Melissa and I will say, LT has overall been better this year than Argyle, but if Argyle’s percussion scores improve (assuming that they will), I could see them beating out LT for 3rd overall in the area since all of their other categories are really good at the moment. Reedy and WG will for sure be breathing down their necks come area day since they are really really good this year, but I think right now, I’d put Wakeland, Lone Star, LT, and Argyle (in that order) as my picks for state, but this area is wild so anything could happen… FullRetreat, Miswordedstatements, zxrzxz and 1 other 4

ClarinetFreak Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 With how Lone Star scored up against the top 6a bands and especially Wakeland this past weekend, notably after their shocking 11th placement at Prosper last year, how do y'all think the battle for first in Area B will go this year? I mean, I really did not expect BOA judges to take a liking to LS's show after what happened last year, but I expected wrong 😅. And, with Lone Star steadily creeping towards Wakeland over these past years, do y'all think this year could be the year that they overtake Wakeland? Based on the numbers I see it as a slim possibility 👀

Based on the numbers I see it as a slim possibility 👀 I really think Wakeland has got it in the bag this year again. Lonestar had undeniably been able to make that gap smaller between them, and i’ve always loved their show design compared to a lot of these other bands. I’ve always seen Wakeland as the cleaner band between the two, which has reflected in scores so far. If we were still using the old area judging format, I would say lone star might take the win for this area; however, the new format kind of mimics state judging, which wakeland has done historically well in. Thats one reason why I think they will still take first place, but I also think their show design this year is better. I’ve always thought that was their weakness, was that their shows were too easy for them or just not as engaging, but this year it seems to be a lot more promising. Bluecoat 1

They beat out some impressive competition at birdville including Byron Nelson, and the champions of the competition the week before being north mesquite. They have the same level of sound consistency from a few years back and they have bounced back from last year and the terrible show design that was. Along with that they have some of the most unique visual effects I have seen this year so don’t be surprised if they do higher than expected.

I definitely think The Colony will make finals this year, but I just can’t see them in the Top 6. A couple of weeks ago, Reedy beat Sachse at a marching contest (completely forgot which one). The Colony was quite a few points off from Sachse at Birdville. I could see them in the conversation for 7th-10th for sure though! They’ve had a really amazing season so far and the kids are really buying into the show theme this year.
Karma_Savior Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Quite frankly, it’s honestly insane that a school like Reedy can beat Sachse, the former 6A Area C Champion. It’s a shame that Reedy doesn’t have enough conversations about potentially getting a state spot, but I know that it’s a competitive area. I think it’s time for Frisco ISD to take a page out of Leander ISD’s book and have a couple of schools in 6A to spread the love. Just imagine if Wakeland and Lone Star moved up to 6A and freed up a couple of state spots for other Frisco ISD/non-FISD schools to have a chance in the Alamo Dome. opiniondropper25 1
