Here’s my predictions with some short and sweet explanations 

Super locked in picks 

1. Dawson (I just prefer this over Pearland)

2. Pearland (Visually superior than Dawson but not as musically great)

3. Dickinson (Great show super clean and satisfies the UIL rubric 100 percent)

4. SFA (Really visually hard and musically even with their size they are really good)

Unsure picks 

5. Pasadena Memorial (I wasn’t convinced on even finals, but i remembered a comment about how they get clean really late and it’s coming together for them nicely I’m not sure tho)

6. Foster (If Pasadena Memorial is still unclean this is definitely a state contender wonderful design and great music composition 

7. Clear Brook (This show isn’t really clicking with me for some reason state percussion and guard but the rest ehh)

8. Clear Lake (They are pushing the sound with their size it’s awesome but visually not there yet)

9. Elkins/George Ranch/Clements (I genuinely can’t decide with these guys)

10. Fulshear (Haven’t watched it)

Yea at this point, I am not even gonna be surprised if we have some sort of upset at some point in the rankings. So many of these schools are close together. Like the bottom half of final spots could go in so many different ways.

Here are my predictions. I know there are only 10 final spots, but the groups are so close together I had to do 12. I am almost tempted to say 3 and 4 could swap easily enough and as far as 7-12 goes, I would not be very surprised if that order was completely different, but I tried to respect any heads on comparisons I could at a single contest.(I did not include GE from BOA events since Area does not use it). If I had to guess though Clear Lake would be the one that would be most likely to move up. I also think there is a small chance one of the groups in 7-12 sneaks up and jumps to like 6th place or something.

I get what you’re saying.  Lake didn’t get to go to state last year because there were 29 bands at Area instead of 30, and someone’s going to be in that position this year.  ☹️  It stinks, and it would be nice to see them make State sometime.  It’s just that when you single out one group you want to do less well, it’s just not very nice.

My son went to a high school in this Area and said there were multiple instances where kids from another school’s band in this Area (I’m not naming schools) were trash talking them at a contest, and I just really hate to see this kind of poor sportsmanship.  (In fairness, I don’t know if the offending school’s students did this to kids from other bands or not.)  

I just feel like we should want every group to do as well as possible.

but in percussion Pearland doesn’t beat Clear Brook in indoor drumline, tho I understand it’s different, and it’s important to remember in the judges sheet they will still have a sub caption of overall music.

Ohhhhh…my bad- I didn’t know that…oh yeah and won’t the perc judge be like a bona fide percussionist? Ok then yeah I can see Brook taking it then (they’re both very neck and neck tho)

Nah it’s fine, Pearland might take it either way indoor was almost a year ago in a couple months. Pearland might have the stronger percussion already

Super quick question, knowing the weather circumstances as of right now if area gets pushed till Monday will it only be a prelims run and no finals or both?
