I feel like once Freeman moves up to 6A either in the 2026 or 2028 realignment. it’s definitely going to shake up the area with a potential new finalist! 30 minutes ago, Clamp said: Alot of inconsistency this season so I still cant tell where everyone should be but overall it produced a lot of mind boggling results that probably wouldn’t have happened with the past judging Agreed, a lot of this is interesting to me in terms of where programs got scored. I didn’t think Jet would be scored that low? I also didn’t think the same for Cy-Ranch. Langham had stayed right around where I would’ve had them but an interesting night. I know over in Area E foster didn’t get the best end of the stick either. Quote

(placed JET 18th in perc) If you're gonna judge a contest, especially one like UIL, you can't be opinion based. It's not fair to the performers on the field who are making the best of what they're given (not saying I agree with his critiques). I don't see much evidence of a new judging system at all. Most things seemed to have remained the exact same as they have every other year and this contest is still equally as unpredictable. Interesting...heard similar comments from someone in another Area. If I have the story straight, they placed 2nd-3rd (behind Bridgeland in prelims and finals) at Lonestar, Colin McNutt was the judge. Then at UIL Area received a strange 11th place score. Practically the same bands. Quote
Brahms Symphony No.3 Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 I think some attention needs to be given to Cy-Park, they didn't really get as much hype this year as they did last year yet they jumped up what, like 8 spots? if anybody here has read the biography of their head director they should know that their band is capable of some crazy things, if they can get in a flow of getting better every year. They got 11th and that was with their percussion scoring far worse than any other competition that they've been to this year. Cy park may have had some difficulties building up at first but if they can build on the momentum that they created this year I would not be incredibly surprised to see another bridgeland type level of growth Trombone_lover17 and xcv 2 Quote

Popular Post jetliner Posted October 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2025 Little late since I was busy with some Military State and USBands Southwestern. This was an awesome contest. Super glad they delayed. Top half finalists would've gotten dumped on by storms if not. Legacy always seems to coax great runs out of groups. Cinco Ranch was one of the single best runs I've seen this season, they were UNDENIABLY going to make State. Bridgeland brings something to the table not many Texas groups do. I live for their woodwind openers. Seven Lakes show is just as incredible as when I saw it in South Houston. Regardless of Alamodome results it's one of my favorites of the season. I 100% agreed with the groups that made finals and I feel like the focused music judging played a part. I think the break happening precisely between the groups seeded in the state slots and not is... Not a good thing. Really means prelims set the qualifiers. The multicam of the finalists is now on Youtube. This contest was already great, but that just elevates it even more. BandAlumMom, Trombone_lover17, CincoRanchNerd67 and 1 other 2 2 Quote
