Bridgeland is losing Mr Willie, their visual director. I can’t overstate his contribution to the program. In Grand Nats prelims last year Bridgeland placed ahead of Avon and Broken Arrow (iirc), in large part thanks to his contributions. A tough hole to fill.

Will be a fun year.

Speaking of replacements for staff, springs got our assistant director announced a while ago who was the assistant director at Spillane ms who was also in Carolina crown for 3 years

And I also heard JV got a new head director from memorial hs so wonder how that’ll change things up

Since band camp has now started I’ll be releasing a new set of predictions( hopefully I don’t upset anyone this time🙏

1. Bridgeland-no words needed it’s very unlikely they fall below this spot for the time being

2. cy woods- they seem to have rebounded and I think that will continue state is the minimum I think for them this year will be aiming to make state finals

3. Seven lakes- made state finals last year and while idk if they’ll make it this year I do think they have a shot and will firmly make state

4. cy fair- I saw somebody say cy fair has a kind of indoor percussion design to there shows and is why they excel at boa they will make state but I dont think it will come as easy as it has in the past

5.JET- haven’t played much attention to them but believe they got 6th last year at area and I believe are capable of reaching state this year

6. Cinco ranch- I have a slight feeling the lemon show was a one off type of thing, don’t get me wrong it was an amazing show it wasn’t the cleanest by any means and to make state there going to need to clean it up I currently have them first out of state

7. Jordan- they looked locked into state at one point in the year but fell short some say due to bad judging idk but I still think they have a shot I just think it won’t be this year

8. Langham creek- I have heard some whispers out of them and have seen some of their show stuff and can say it is MUCH harder than I expected won’t go into detail but any Langham people in the forum can add onto to this

9. Tompkins- I have them below Langham cause if I remember correctly they tied with Langham last year and I just believe there on two different trajectories at this point still have them making finals though

10. Katy- I think this year Katy stops the bleeding and starts making a comeback towards the upper echelon

———————————————————

11. cy ranch- idk some of there shows just haven’t impressed me as much as I thought they were but i still do believe they have a shot at finals

12 jersey village

13 paetow

14 cy park

Remember these are just predictions if anybody believes there band is placed unfairly please don’t hesitate to say something but again I’m just going off what I know I am not all knowing so with that being these are my predictions this is with 5 state spots if anybody wants further explanations in placements lmk!

I have a strong feeling Cinco Ranch will continue on an upward trend to fight for state.

I’m hesitant to base this years area results off of last year, I question the judges decisions to be honest. And there are sooooo many factors that go into this, the infamous random 17th for Jordan which I semi-slightly-barely at all, understand but I DONT at all. Looking at Langhams score, again, Tompkins Katy langham and ranch we all less than 3 points close, so that 5th place from that second visual judge boosted langham by a bit, though overall, I think langham could have ended up around the 11th/12th range, but I’d have them 10th. As for Cy-Ranch, musically they were around the 6th-7th range on average? But it seems their visual bogged down on them. So I’d imagine that would be a focus point for them, and for langham to maybe see some more consistency from music to visual as well. As for Katy I would think their goal is to stay in the running for finals? Not a shot at ALL to Katy, love that group. But Cy-Ranch, and Langham Creek are gunning for finals, and I honestly don’t see this next year being an “only one band” makes finals, but two bubbles such as them. So I would watch out for them. Now as for Cypress Woods, I love their sound.

That is all.

Yeah but tbh I think Langham scored high in visuals through out the season I remember someone saying they had beat seven lakes and Churchill at Katy marching festival in visuals but yeah that music needs more consistency ranch as well with visuals

For sure, I think langham has stronger visuals than music, and Cy-Ranch stronger music than visuals. Makes it interesting though lol.

I think Generally in the Cy-Fair district everyone for example says “Ranch” or “Ridge” or “woods”, “fair”, because usually those schools are one timers in terms of the name, but there are langham creek and Cy-creek, but everyone will say “Langham” or “Creek” for Cy-Creek. So I think generally speaking if talking about Cy-Ranch people will say “Ranch” and for cinco ranch it’s probably gonna be “Cinco”.

If you saw the break down she gave the a 20th in brass... There definitely was something funky that happened. If you dropped that score they would have been going to state.

(I heard the judge tap that gave them 20th)

It was restarted his main complaint was that the Hindamith (how every you spell the name) wasn't played like it's played in an orchestra setting.

Yeah, area I had always been weird... Even more so last year.

I don't know if it will translate to higher finishes since there are so many great bands in our area all seemingly on the rise, but Katy has made some significant changes that will hopefully keep us in the mix.

@Sideswiperr I think you're pretty much right as far as where we are as a program. We've broken new ground (for us) by making Finals 4 times in a row, so we definitely hope to keep that going while having State as a stretch goal.

That’s always good, it’s always difficult for these predictions, because I want Bubble bands to make finals, but then it’s like..oh..someone has to get booted out of finals for that to happen. And you don’t want that, so I hope Katy continues to make improvements and keep gunning for that state opportunity. I really like yalls shows.
