whitewing09 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 So its state year for all you all 5As and all that. anywho... Is this year going to be a repeat of last year. Is it going to be better? or worst? Do you think the top 10 in state are going to change dramatically or slightly Do you think BOA is going to change any?? you think Reagan will still take home Super Regionals in San Antonio? Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 This is my opinion and I REALLY think it will happen... This year will be perhaps one of the most competitive years for state. So I guess to answer your first question, it will be better. I mean...after all, not only the top bands in the state get better...so do some of the lesser known ones. I feel the top 10 will be full of shockers. A number of programs have improved since the last state year. I think LD Bell, Cedar Park, Churchill, Duncanville, and Reagan are probably the only bands that are guaranteed to be in finals. I think the bottom 5 will be filled with different bands. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Woodlands, Haltom, Brazowood, or a few other bands take those spots though. Despite this, I am still expecting some upsets for the state finals. I think it will be between Reagan and LD Bell for the super regional. If LD Bell goes to SA this year, they will definitely give Reagan a run for their money. BOA is a whole different type of contest from state, and Reagan dominates BOA in Texas. Last year at GN, however, they finished 2nd and 3rd with a half point margin. You can't say that one of them will overthrow the other. It's just going to come down to whoever executes their show better at SA. Quote
Xukaniz Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I am looking to see how LD Bell does this year. I hear they had another director change...how many more can they take? Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Yeah it was an assitant director. But we got 2 new ones in the process Quote
euro_euph06 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Even though we cant exactly predict anything (that is the nature of the beast that we like to call marching band). These are the bands I think will be successful for the upcoming year (selected on repertoires that I know of, past successes, and pure imagination): In no particular order Top Ten-UIL Haltom L.D. Bell Cedar Park Langham Creek Churchill Duncanville The Woodlands Ronald Reagan James Bowie Brazoswood Top 12-BOA Churchill The Woodlands Brazoswood James Bowie Cedar Park L.D. Bell Richland Marcus Ronald Reagan SFA Westfield Haltom Quote

They received both 5th and 7th respectively at the State Honor Band competition. Both have won championships in multiple competitions. Expect them to use their past and current successes to bring them back. That is my take on it. Quote
Amusicman Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Now I know it is really to early to be predicting for the state marching contest but I think the finals this year is pretty much already set up. I thnk these will be for sure the finalists - L.D. Bell Duncanville Haltom Marcus Richland The Woodlands Cedar Park Bowie Reagan Churchill Bubble Bands - Langham Creek Coppell Brazoswood If any other band were to make finals in 06 it would really suprise me.
