euro_euph06 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 According to a report on the Newsday website, Clemens will sign a one-year deal to remain with the Houston Astros. The deal will reportedly pay Clemens, 43, in the neighborhood of $3.5 million per month. That translates to roughly $10.5 million for what remains of the 2006 season. Last winter, the Astros declined to offer Clemens salary arbitration. As a result, they lost the right to re-sign him until May 1. UItimately though, that wasn't a problem for Clemens, who was intrigued by the opportunity to pitch just half a season. By only making himself available for part of the 2006 season, Clemens almost certainly forfeited any chance of winning an unprecedeted eighth Cy Young award. But he'll still have an opportunity to improve on his career 344-172 record. Yeah!!! He is coming back to Houston!!! What now Yankees (and Red Sox)!!! Quote
sax5warrior Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 bleeeeh.. just play forever and tell us each year "im going to retire" and then come back and tell us "im retiring" and then come back... Make up your mind! You too Farve...i cant believe i waste my time reading all the reports on ESPN Quote
mbui Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I hope Roger and the Astros seal the deal. It's great seeing him pitch in his hometown of Houston. And, on a sidenote..... I can't believe people watch ESPN in the first place. What a horrible network. I like to call ESPN the "LeBonds" channel. Quote

TX Suh-nare Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Yeah, you get lots of money, and you find a way to use it to get more money. It's wierd to think of it this way, but steroid use is like making an investment. You use money you have to put into something you hope will get you more money, so you get your money working for (or in this case, on) you. Quote
