euro_euph06 Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 This came in an email to me from BOA: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 31, 2006 The undersigned entities and persons have jointly released for public knowledge the following release and informational statement. The undersigned wish to confirm their mutual respect for the rights of composers, the integrity of copyrights, the value of music, and the importance of music education. Consistent with these views, the parties acknowledge that composers and publishers have the inherent right to be properly compensated for the commercial use of their music, and the corresponding right to enforce theirs copyrights by legal action if necessary. Danpod Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 That's exactly what BOA was fighting this whole time. By the way, the BOA Grand Nationals DVD are in the mail as of today!!! Quote
mbui Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Hopefully this is the step in the right direction on getting the old Band of America videos & DVD's back. Either 800VideoExpress open back up or BOA will release the tapes to Mr. Video, BOA's current videographer. It would be devastating for the marching band activity if 29 years worth of marching band were gone forever. I still have to order several Regional & Grand National stuff. Quote
mbui Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 QUOTE (mnkyman @ Mar 31 2006, 10:11 PM)is that why they have been delayed? Not really. The 2005 DVD situation had to do with synchronization (synch) licenses. The license needed to videotape the performance of a copyrighted song. There were two issues.... One...BOA and Mr. Video had to wait until final approval was given from third party copyright holders from outside the country. We all know how complicated it is to make a simple international phone call. Imagine having to track down a copyright holder in a foreign land. Must be an excruciating task. The other had to do with getting a synch license from a major motion picture.
