Guys, calm down. There's no reason for a feud here. Can we just agree that they're both excellent band programs who have the potential to do extremely well at state?
-
How exactly does the adjucation scale work? I took a look at the prelim results and I saw "1/2", "3/6", etc. I'm not quite sure what that means...
-
Amazingly, these four bands were not just from the same area but from the same district! Makes Friday night halftime pretty competitive!
This actually was repeated in Area F as well - Friendswood and Dawson are both in Region 17, were the only two state qualifiers from Area F, and both made finals last year at 4A state (4th and 8th respectively). So Area D and F advanced both of their bands to state finals....might have been one of the first times that 6 finalists came from only two regions.

Friendswood actually won final cologuard aswell
My mistake. It's edited now

I was pretty shocked by Dawson and Oak Ridge not making finals...I mean, weren't they respectively 2nd and 5th last year?
-
I was actually pretty suprised that Dawson and Vandergrift finished where they did. Fairly odd; but I guess it's the judges decision, not ours.
Congragulations to everyone that was there.

silsoc 3, I find it odd that you left out Lake Travis and Dawson. Can you elaborate on that? As has been mentioned before, Lake Travis beat Dripping Springs at USSBA, and Dawson beat Friendswood at LSP and Area. I'm slightly confused.

Programs that get 100k, or 50k, or even 30k, pumped into their shows are the ones who work their arses off for that money. It isn't handed to them on a silver platter, they have to work for it - everyone from directors to students to boosters, by fundraising, promoting, etc. There is no reason why those programs should have to share that hard earned cash with programs that don't bother doing anything besides getting Title I money. No reason at all.

That second block is going to be a killer. Dripping Springs followed by Dawson with Poteet two bands down the line....that's going to be insane. The judges better be ready to makes some really tough calls...
-
There's just so much talent at state this year that nobody can really predict much.
-
Friendswood and Dawson from Area F.

What happened to Poteet?

If it's a Buffet, there's a little seal that says Buffet (unless it's really, really old - I'm talking like 30+ years). It'll also have serial numbers engraved into the upper and lower joints. You can track the age of the professional models using the serial numbers and Buffet's website.
I've only got expieriance with the E-11, the R-13, and borrowed C-13 and RC Prestiges myself, however. I don't know if that holds true for their plastic models, never having even touched one.
